摘要
文章采用定量研究和定性研究相结合的方法,基于自建小型语料库对《牡丹亭》三个英译本进行对比研究,分别从词汇、句法和语篇层面考察译者的翻译风格,并从译者的个体性差异及翻译目的两方面探究译者风格的成因。分析结果表明:每个译本都显示出独特风格,许译简练生动,平易质朴;汪译细腻流畅,自然传神;白译注重语义翻译,文学性强。
Based on self-constructed corpora,this paper conducts a comparative study of three English versions of The Peony Pavilion with both quantitative and qualitative approaches.It attempts to investigate styles of the three translators on lexical,syntactic and textual level respectively.From individual factors and translation purposes,it proposes some explanations for translators’styles.Results show that all renditions are distinctive:Xu Yuanchong’s version is concise and plain;Wang Rongpei’s version boasts smoothness and conveys the spirit of the original text;Bai Zhi’s version puts a premium on semantic translation and possesses high literary value.
