摘要
作为一种特殊类型的知识生产方式,区域研究的内核体现在本体论、认识论和方法论方面,其重视"情境"和"地方性知识",强调研究者的立场性和反思性,并要求研究中的"经历在地"和"参与在地"。同时,区域研究内部的多样性较强,涵盖了遵循不同传统,多层次、多路径、不同取向的研究。国际学界近年来对区域研究的立场、视角和方法展开了批评和反思。与此同时,国际学界也力图通过对区域研究的再定位重新激活区域研究的学术潜力,这一再定位呈现出社会科学和文化研究两大方向,其中前者强调在区域研究的理论、方法和话题设置上推动社会科学路径的使用,提升区域研究和社会科学主流争论的连接,而后者关注区域研究的知识和权力的关系,并将区域和区域的认同视为可塑的文化构建物。对区域研究的再定位在拓宽区域研究的视野、重构区域研究中的主体与客体关系以及区域研究与学科之间的关系等方面有着重要的意义。未来中国区域研究的发展需要从中国的视角出发理解世界,也需要更多的对其他国家深入和细致的研究。
Area Studies is a special type of knowledge production and has its hard core in ontology, epistemology and methodology. Areas Studies stresses context and local knowledge, and highlights the positionality and reflexivity of researchers, while the experience and participation at local places are also crucial. At the same time, we can observe varieties within Areas Studies, which can be traced to different traditions and cover wide range of researches at multiple levels, adopting different approaches and having different orientations. In recent years, international academia criticizes and reflects upon the position,perspective and methods of Areas Studies. At the same time, international academia aims to invoke the academic potential of Areas Studies by pushing forward the reorientation of Areas Studies. The reorientation of Areas Studies advances in directions of social sciences and cultural studies. The former one stresses the adoption of approaches of social sciences concerning the theory, method and issue setting in Areas Studies and argues that it can promote the linkage between Areas Studies and the mainstream of social science. The latter one focuses on the intersection between the knowledge of Areas Studies and power, and takes the area and the identity of an area as malleable cultural construct. The reorientation of Areas Studies is meaningful for broadening Area Studies’ horizon and reconstructing the relationship between subject and object in Areas Studies and between Areas Studies and disciplines. In the future development of Chinese Area Studies,we should adopt Chinese perspective to study the world and the in-depth and detailed research is crucial.
