Although 'subculture' as a formal academic term appeared in the 1930s,the subcultures as some special kind of people have been existing for more than 400 years. Subcultures have been described as the deviant, wandering groups without productivity. The Chicago Sociology School continues this traditional logic, analyzing the social reason of the deviant groups. The Birmingham School pays more attention to the subcultures' anti-power politics through ritual resistance, extending the dimensions of class, race, age, gender and so on. Some scholars in recent years have begun to criticize the 'heroic' idealism of the Birmingham School, emphasizing the hybridity of subculture's identity.
