Objective To explore the feasibility and effectiveness of using American TV series(Grey’s Anatomy) to teach narrative medicine in college English classes. Results 100% of the students reported that this elective course increased their understanding of narrative medicine;98.77% of the students felt that by learning narrative medicine, they could learn to empathize with patients, which is helpful in the creation of a harmonious doctor-patient relationship. In terms of the learning form, 95.06% of students thought that "watching narrative TV series" was more conducive;in terms of the learning groups,92.59% of students preferred "a sharing group of medical TV series";as for the effects of learning narrative medicine in this elective course, 54.32% of the students felt they could vividly feel what the characters were feeling and generate strong empathy. Conclusion Grey’s Anatomy can be used for narrative medical teaching in college English classes to strongly stimulate students’ interest. It can also be conductive to the cultivation of medical humanistic quality and their long-term self-study ability.
