The Metaphorical Concept theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson provides a new possibility for interpreting the original text of The Tale of Genji from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, and also provides an explanatory space for discussing the issue of"unreadable"Metaphorical Concepts in the translations of The Tale of Genji.Drawing inspiration from the original text and the Chinese translations of The Tale of Genji,a group of"Metaphorical Concepts"represented by dew, purple, and"karamono"have extremely complex connotations. However,Chinese readers may be trapped in the problem of historical time and space, where there is a common understanding based on cultural overlapping imagery,as well as the emergence of metaphorical interpretations under cultural transcendental connotations, and inevitably leading to"cultural deviation".In response to the issues of readability and unreadability in such translations,it is necessary to adopt a"cross-cultural dialogue"approach to treat them correctly, and also to try to solve it through a"mutual learning of civilizations"approach.
