Hengduan Mountains Region is a special geographical region in the southwest of China, with its unique geographical environment and ecological diversity as well as a variety of ancient cultures and ethnic groups. Recent archaeological findings show that this region was an important corridor for cultural exchange and ethnic group immigration in southwestern and northwestern China and even Southeast Asia in the late Neolithic Age. Both Majiayao culture and Yangshao culture, from northwestern China also have deeply influenced and involved in the development of local Neolithic culture. The Neolithic culture from Hengduan Mountains Region has laid a prehistoric foundation for the development of the Neolithic culture and the Silk Road of Southwestern China in the southwest of China during Longshan Period, expanded the connotation and extension of the Silk Road of Southwestern China, and highlighted the pivotal role of Hengduan Mountains Region in cultural exchanges between China and other countries in ancient times.
