Louise Erdrich, the celebrated American native woman writer,in her novel Shadow Tag depicted contemporary Indian women's awakening and resistance in the multi-cultural society and their families. The novel presents various forms of Heterotopia.Based on Heterotopia's mirror examination,Indian women struggle to be freed from the bondage of double "other" identity.Roaming between the real and imaginary Heterotopia, they grope for their individual way to survive.Meanwhile, the "middle-area" is exactly the literary space for Erdrich to seek and bridge her Indian cultural background with the main-stream culture.
