Objective To investigate the imapct of complications and quality of care of innovative care process model for ICU patients receiving mechanical ventilation. Methods Totally 84 cases of ICU mechanically ventilated patients were divided into control groups (June 2012 to May 2013) 40 cases and observation group (June 2013 to June 2014) 44 cases according to the time of admission of patients. The incidence of complications, quality of care and prognosis of the two groups were compared. Results The ventilatorassociated pneumonia (VAP), airway erosion, damage to the vocal cords, glottis edema, tracheal necrosis and ulceration of the observation group were significantly lower than the control group ( P 〈0.05). The based care, intensive care, ward management, document management, focusing on aspects of management, emergency medicine management and overall quality of care score of the observation group were higher than the control group (P〈0.05). The duration of mechanical ventilation, ICU stay, average hospital stay of the observation group were less than the control group, while patient satisfaction scores were higher than the control group(P〈0.05). Conclusion Innovative care process model can effectively improve the quality of care for ICU patients receiving mechanical ventilation, reduce patient morbidity, shorten duration of mechanical ventilation of patients, improve patient outcomes, and increase patient satisfaction.
