his paper described biological importance of carbohydrates and major procedures for the determinationof carbohydrates briefly. The emphasis of the article was laid upon the discussion of newly developed highperformance aniori exchange chromatography with pulsed amperometric detection(HPAEC-PAD)techniquefor the determination of carbohydrates.The basic principle,current application situation,advantages anddrawbacks of this technique were recounted in greater detail.
