Materials and Methods: A needs analysis was conducted using a five-phased approach to review the BSc in nursing Curriculum. Kern’s six-step model was adapted and introduced through a series of workshop exercises that highlighted the application of each step: 1) Desk review of the BSc curriculum offered globally;2) Administration of the needs assessment questionnaire to key informants;3) Strengths, weakness, opportunities and threat analysis;4) Consultative meeting with major stakeholders;5) Curriculum review. Results: The five-phased approach established some gaps in existing curricula, and identified critical core competences and best practices in integrating EPB and critical thinking in the BSc undergraduate curriculum and some “A” level content that was not in tandem with the practice of nurses. New courses were developed to support students in academic writing and enhance professionalism and duration of training was reduced from 5 to 4 years. Conclusion: The process demonstrated that BSc curriculum review, in fact, should be thoroughly scrutinized to encourage positive changes to the curriculum, provide opportunities for team building and the development of leadership skills and a whole-of course perspective on the curriculum.
文摘Objective: To explore the effects of self-directed learning readiness and learning attitude on problem-solving ability among Chinese undergraduate nursing students. Methods: A convenience sampling of 460 undergraduate nursing students was surveyed in Tianjin, China. Students who participated in the study completed a questionnaire that included social demographic questionnaire, Self-directed Learning Readiness Scale, Attitude to Learning Scale, and Social Problem-Solving Inventory. Pearson’s correlation analysis was performed to test the correlations among problem-solving ability, self-directed learning readiness, and learning attitude. Hierarchical linear regression analyses were performed to explore the mediating role of learning attitude. Results: The results showed that learning attitude (r=0.338, P<0.01) and self-directed learning readiness (r=0.493, P<0.01) were positively correlated with problem-solving ability. Learning attitude played a partial intermediary role between self-directed learning readiness and problem-solving ability (F=74.227, P<0.01). Conclusions: It is concluded that nursing educators should pay attention on students’ individual differences and take proper actions to inspire students’ self-directed learning readiness and learning attitude.
文摘Objective To explore the application of evidence-based nursing intervention in patients with congenital heart diseases treated by transcatheter interventional therapy. Methods A total of 64 patients with congenital heart diseases who were administered in our hospital from June 2011 to July 2013 were recruited in our research.
文摘The evidence-based Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) nursing in standard plan is to be constructed by a combination of evidence-based thinking and expert consensus.(1) The symptoms of diseases with better curative effect in TCM and the nursing techniques of TCM based on scientific evidence can be preliminarily presented through bibliometric analysis.(2) Expert consultation letters can be developed based on bibliometric results, and symptoms of dominant diseases in TCM and TCM nursing techniques can be selected through those letters.(3) Based on the selected symptoms and TCM nursing techniques, the PICO can be determined, and then evidence search, evidence extraction, evidence analysis can be conducted and synthesized, and recommendations would be chosen.(4) The recommendation grade of each recommendation can be determined by applying the Delphi method and referring to GRADE.(5) The plan will be determined through discussions of experts. The construction of TCM nursing plan would make sure that TCM nursing is scientific, and internationalize TCM nursing.
文摘Objective: Problem-solving should be a fundamental component of nursing education because It is a core ability for professional nurses. For more effective learning, nursing students must understand the relationship between self-directed learning readiness and problem-solving ability. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships among self-directed learning readiness, problemsolving ability, and academic self-efficacy among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: From November to December 2016, research was conducted among 500 nursing undergraduate students in Tianjin, China, using a self-directed learning readiness scale, an academic self-efficacy scale, a questionnaire related to problem-solving, and selfdesigned demographics. The response rate was 85.8%.Results: For Chinese nursing students, self-directed learning readiness and academic self-efficacy reached a medium-to-high level, while problem-solving abilities were at a low level. There were significant positive correlations among the students' self-directed learning readiness, academic self-efficacy, and problem-solving ability. Furthermore, academic self-efficacy demonstrated a mediating effect on the relationship between the students' self-directed learning readiness and problem-solving ability. Conclusions: To enhance students' problem-solving ability, nursing educators should pay more attention to the positive impact of self-directed learning readiness and self-efficacy in nursing students' education.
文摘Objective: To investigate the effect of evidence-based nursing intervention in elderly patients with arrhythmia after acute myocardial infarction. Methods: 146 elderly patients with arrhythmia after acute myocardial infarction treated in our hospital from February 2016 to March 2017 were selected as research objects. According to the random number method, patients were divided into control group (73 cases, traditional nursing) and observation group (73 cases, evidence-based nursing intervention). The clinical effects and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results: The hospital stay, average bed rest time, hospitalization cost, and incidence of arrhythmia complications in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After nursing, the four grades of heart function and satisfaction of nursing in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions: In elderly patients with arrhythmia after acute myocardial infarction, evidence-based nursing intervention was adopted. The patient's health has been greatly improved and the doctor-patient relationship has been significantly improved. This method is worth promoting.
文摘Objective: To evaluate the correlation between time management disposition and ability confidence of Nursing Students in China through the Pearson correlation coefficient. Methods: Electronic databases including the Cochrane library, PubMed, EMBASE, the Web of Science, CBM, Wanfang, VIP and CNKI were searched from inception to October 2017 to collect literature on the correlation between time manage-ment disposition and ability confidence of Chinese nursing students. The studies were examined according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. After extracting data and evaluating the quality of the included studies. Meta-analysis was carried out using Stata 12.0 software. Results: A total of 7 articles with 1632 nursing students were included, and the quality of the literature was at medium level. Meta-analysis shown the total score of time management disposition of Chinese nursing students and its three dimensions were related to ability confidence. The summary correlation coefficient between time management disposition and ability confidence was 0.52 (0.43 to 0.59) ; There is a weak correlation between time value and ability confidence (r, 0.33; 95% CI, 0.25 to 0.39); There was a moderate level of correlation between time control and ability confidence (r, 0.49; 95% CI, 0.43 to 0.54); There was a moderate level of correlation between time efficacy and ability confidence (0.47, 0.41, 0.53).And the relevance of nursing time management disposition and behavioral confidence varies with the nursing student's area, nursing student's diploma, measurement tools and sample size. Conclusion: The time man- agement disposition of Chinese nursing students is moderately related to ability confidence. When there are different in nursing students in the area, nursing diploma, measurement tools and sample size, the relevance is very different. The time management disposition of Chinese nursing students and their ability confidence are mutually reinforcing, and the time management disposition and their ability confidence should be further strengthened in the future.
