Some useful numerical calculations are presented to explain the EMAT behavior with general geometric arrangements. It is indicated that for the ferromagnetic material the magnetostriction effect dominates the EMAT phenomenon for ultrasonic wave generation in low magnetic field intensity, while the material does not reach its magnetizing saturation. But, with the increase of the bias magnetic field and saturation, the magnetostrictive terms will make no contributions to the ultrasonic generation and the Lorentz force becomes the only exciting mechanism. It is important to determine both the Lorentz and magnetostriction forces and select the appropriate working manner for achieving an optimized design.展开更多

The flowfield is described by multi-species NavierStocks equations. The chemical model includes 11 species (O2, N2, O, N, NO, NO^+ , N^+ , O^+, N2^+ , O2^+, e^- ) and 20 reactions. For simulating the thermal non-equilibrium effect, the two-temperature model is considered. The finite volume method (FVM) used for the spatial and directional discretization of radiative transfer equation(RTE) is described for unstructured grids. The numerical code can handle different kinds of species and radiative bands in a gas thermodynamicly described by two temperatures. In particular, the Delta, Epsilon, Beta prime, and Gamma prime bands of NO are choosen and the distribution of the radiation intensity is obtained.展开更多

By selectively exciting the core and shell carrier, the dynamics are studied in detail. Carrier relaxation is found faster in the conduction band of the CdS shell (about 130 fs) than that in the conduction band of the CdSe core (about 400 fs). From the experiments it is distinctly demonstrated the existence of the defect states in the interface between the CdSe core and the CdS shell, indicating that ultrafast spectroscopy might be a suitable tool in studying interface and surface morphology properties in nanosystems.展开更多

The relationship among the reaction thrust, flow rate pressure, diameter do and length L of a cylinder nozzle is analyzed theoretically. The simulation of the flow field characteristics was conducted via the FLUENT computational fluid dynamics package. Effects of the inlet conditions and the nozzle dimensions on the reaction thrust of a water jet were addressed particularly. The reaction thrust experiments were performed on a custom-designed test apparatus. The experimental results reveal that a) the nozzle diameter and the inlet conditions exert great influence on the water jet reaction thrust; and b) for L≤4d0, where the nozzle is treated as a thin plate-orifice, the reaction thrust is independent of nozzle length; for L〉4d0, where the nozzle is treated as a long orifice, the reaction thrust can reach maximum under the condition of a certain flow rate. These findings lay a theoretical foundation for the design of nozzles and have significant value, especially for the future development of high-oressure water-let orooulsion technology.展开更多

The results indicate that the fracture of medium under airshooting resultes from both shock action of air spray and quasi static dilatation of high pressure air. The action of air spray leads to the initial fracture of the wall of borehole and arouses stress wave to propagate in the medium. The quasi static dilatation of high pressure air results in the propagation of initial fractures and produces shear fracture in the medium along the free boundary. Along the direction of minimum burden, the superposition of quasi static and dynamic stress fields can prompt the propagation of cracks. The superposition of the reflected wave, which comes from multiple free surfaces, will result in the fracture of medium also if multiple free boundaries exist.展开更多

The results show that when the pouring temperatures are properly above the liquidus line, for example 630-650 ℃, the slurry with spherical primary α(Al) grains can be prepared under the stirring power of 1.27 kW. The slurry is then homogeneously held for a short time, and the primary α(Al) grains are further ripened and distributed evenly in the slurry. The results of the rheo-squeezed casting experiments show that the injection specific pressure has a great effect on the filling ability of the semi-solid A356 aluminum alloy slurry, and the higher the injection specific pressure is, the better the ability for the slurry to fill the mould cavity is. When the injection specific pressure is equal to or above 34 MPa, the whole and compact rheo-squeezed castings can be obtained. The microstructure of the castings indicates that the shape, size and numbers of the primary α(Al) grains in different parts of the castings are highly consistent. After being held at 535 ℃ for 5 h and then aged at 155 ℃ for 12 h, the ultimate strength of the rheo-squeezed castings can reach 300-320 MPa, the yield strength 230-255 MPa, and the elongation 11%-15%.展开更多

Theory analysis and experiment results of mass flow rates conclude that the RNG k-ε model is the most suitable model. The pressure distribution in the convergent-divergent nozzle was revealed by computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulating on the turbulent flow field under different pressure conditions. Based on the photosynthetic parameters with or without the inhibitors determined by a Dual-PAM-100 apparatus, we investigated the photosynthetic performance and the changes in electron fl ow that occurred during the algae were stressed with dif ferent light intensities previously. When the irradiation saturation was approaching, the CEF around PS I became crucial since the addition of inhibitors usually led to an increase in non-photochemical quenching. The inhibitor experiments showed that there were at least three dif ferent CEF pathways in Py. yezoensis and these pathways compensated each other. In addition to maintaining a proper ratio of ATP/NAD(P)H to support effi cient photosynthesis, the potential roles of CEF might also include the regulation of dif ferent photoprotective mechanisms in Py. yezoensis. Under the regulation of CEF, chlororespiration is thought to transport electrons from the reduced plastoquinone(PQ) pool to oxygen in order to mitigate the reduction in the electron transfer chain. When irradiation was up to the high-grade stress conditions, the relative value of CEF began to decrease, which implied that the NADP+ pool or PQ + pool was very small and that the electrons were transferred from reduced PS I to oxygen. The scavenging enzymes might be activated and the water-water cycle probably became an ef fective means of removing the active oxygen produced by the irradiation stressed Py. yezoensis. We believe that the dif ferent mechanisms could make up the photoprotective network to allow Py. yezoensis for survival in a highly variable light stress habitat, which may enlighten scientists in future studies on irradiance stress in other algae species.展开更多

The mass rate ratio (MRR) of central oxygen to lateral oxygen of the central jet distributor (CJD) burner was defined to express the oxygen supply mode, and the KIVCET process with an MRR ranging from 0.09 to 0.39 was simulated. The results show that there are four efficient reaction regions that correspond to four CJD burners. A higher central oxygen flow improves the mixing between particles and oxygen, thus enhancing reactions and shortening the reaction regions. However, a higher dust rate is induced due to the spread of the particle columns. The optimal MRR for a KIVCET furnace with a smelting capacity of 50000 kg/h is suggested to be 0.31. In this case, the chemical reactions associated with the feed are completed with an acceptable dust rate.展开更多
