Gear flank modification is essential to reduce the noise generated in the gear meshing process,improve the gear transmission performance,and reduce the meshing impact.Aiming at the problem of solving the additional motions of each axis in the higher-order topology modification technique and how to accurately add the different movements expressed in the form of higher-order polynomials to the corresponding motion axes of the machine tool,a flexible higher-order gear topology modification technique based on an electronic gearbox is proposed.Firstly,a two-parameter topology gear surface equation and a grinding model of wheel grinding gears are established,and the axial feed and tangential feed are expressed in a fifth-order polynomial formula.Secondly,the polynomial coefficients are solved according to the characteristics of the point contact when grinding gears.Finally,an improved electronic gearbox model is constructed by combining the polynomial interpolation function to achieve gear topology modification.The validity and feasibility of the modification method based on the electronic gearbox are verified by experimental examples,which is of great significance for the machining of modification gears based on the continuous generative grinding method of the worm grinding wheel. 展开更多

This paper introduces a hybrid multi-objective optimization algorithm,designated HMODESFO,which amalgamates the exploratory prowess of Differential Evolution(DE)with the rapid convergence attributes of the Sailfish Optimization(SFO)algorithm.The primary objective is to address multi-objective optimization challenges within mechanical engineering,with a specific emphasis on planetary gearbox optimization.The algorithm is equipped with the ability to dynamically select the optimal mutation operator,contingent upon an adaptive normalized population spacing parameter.The efficacy of HMODESFO has been substantiated through rigorous validation against estab-lished industry benchmarks,including a suite of Zitzler-Deb-Thiele(ZDT)and Zeb-Thiele-Laumanns-Zitzler(DTLZ)problems,where it exhibited superior performance.The outcomes underscore the algorithm’s markedly enhanced optimization capabilities relative to existing methods,particularly in tackling highly intricate multi-objective planetary gearbox optimization problems.Additionally,the performance of HMODESFO is evaluated against selected well-known mechanical engineering test problems,further accentuating its adeptness in resolving complex optimization challenges within this domain. 展开更多

A heat transfer model of furnace roller cooling process was established based on analysis of furnace roller's structure. The complicated model was solved with iteration planning algorithm based on Newton search. The model is proved logical and credible by comparing calculated results and measured data. Then, the relationship between water flow velocity, inlet water temperature, furnace temperature and roller cross section temperature, outlet water temperature, water temperature rise, cooling water heat absorption was studied. The conclusions and recommendations are mainly as follows: l) Cooling water temperature rise decreases with the increase of water flow velocity, but it has small relationship with inlet water temperature; 2) In order to get little water scale, inlet water temperature should be controlled below 30 ℃. 3) The cooling water flow velocity should be greater than critical velocity. The critical velocity is 0.07 m/s and water flow velocity should be controlled within 0.4-0.8 m/s. Within this velocity range, water cooling efficiency is high and water temperature rise is little. If cooling water velocity increases again, heat loss will increase, leading to energy wasting. 展开更多

In order to realize safe and stable operation of a water-cooled W/Cu divertor under high heating condition,the exact knowledge of its subcooled boiling heat transfer characteristics under different design parameters is crucial.In this paper,subcooled boiling heat transfer in a water-cooled W/Cu divertor was numerically investigated based on computational fluid dynamic(CFD).The boiling heat transfer was simulated based on the Euler homogeneous phase model,and local differences of liquid physical properties were considered under one-sided high heating conditions.The calculated wall temperature was in good agreement with experimental results,with the maximum error of 5%only.On this basis,the void fraction distribution,flow field and heat transfer coefficient(HTC)distribution were obtained.The effects of heat flux,inlet velocity and inlet temperature on temperature distribution and pressure drop of a water-cooled W/Cu divertor were also investigated.These results provide a valuable reference for the thermal-hydraulic design of a water-cooled W/Cu divertor. 展开更多

The semisolid slurry of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy was prepared through a self-designed water-cooled copper serpentine pouring channel(WSPC) machine. Influences of pouring temperature, the number of turns and the cooling water flow rate on the microstructure of the semisolid Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy slurry were investigated. The results show that the semisolid Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy slurry with satisfactory quality can be generated by the WSPC when the pouring temperature is in the range between 680 ℃ and 700 ℃. At a given pouring temperature, the average grain size of primary α-Al decreases and the shape factor increases with the increase of the number of turns. When the cooling water flow rate is 450 L·h^(-1), the obtained semisolid slurry is optimal. During the preparation of the semisolid Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy slurry with low superheat pouring, the alloy melt has mixed inhibition and convection flow characteristics by "self-stirring". When the alloy melt flows through the serpentine channel, the chilling effect of the inner wall of the channel, the convection and mixed inhibition of the alloy melt greatly promote the heterogeneous nucleation and grain segregation. This effect destroys the dendrite growth mode under traditional solidification conditions, and the primary nuclei gradually evolve into spherical or nearspherical grains. 展开更多

An orthogoual experimental scheme was designed for optimizing a water-cooled structure of the divertor plate. There were three influencing factors: the radius R of the water- cooled pipe, and the pipe spacing L1 and L3. The influence rule of different factors on the cooling effect and thermal stress of the plate were studied, for which the influence rank was respectively R 〉 L1 〉 L3 and L3 〉 R 〉 L1. The highest temperature value decreased when R and L1 increased~ and the maximum thermal stress value dropped when R, L1 and L3 increased. The final optimized results can be summarized as: R equals 6 mm or 7 mm, L1 equals 19 mm, and L3 equals 20 mm. Compared with the initial design, the highest temperature value had a small decline~ and the maximum thermal stress value dropped by 19~ to 24~. So it was not ideal to improve the cooling effect by optimizing the geometry sizes of the water-cooled structure, even worse than increasing the flow speed, but it was very effective for dropping the maximum thermal stress value. The orthogoaal experimental method reduces the number of experiments by 80%, and thus it is feasible and effective to optimize the water-cooled structure of the divertor plate with the orthogonal theory. 展开更多

According to failure analysis, the reasons include improper structural design and heat imbalance. An improved design has been proposed to reduce stress concentration and thermal radiation. A heat transfer model has been employed to determine the proper water flow rate for roll cooling. The radial slab is symmetrically and synchronously pumped by eight flash lamps, and produces multi-output beams with a total energy of 469md. Incoherent beam combination property of the multi-output beams is also investigated. An accurate critical heat flux(CHF) prediction method is the key factor for realizing the steady-state operation of a water-cooled divertor that works under one-sided high heating flux conditions.An improved CHF prediction method based on Euler's homogeneous model for flow boiling combined with realizable k-ε model for single-phase flow is adopted in this paper in which time relaxation coefficients are corrected by the Hertz-Knudsen formula in order to improve the calculation accuracy of vapor-liquid conversion efficiency under high heating flux conditions.Moreover,local large differences of liquid physical properties due to the extreme nonuniform heating flux on cooling wall along the circumference direction are revised by formula IAPWSIF97.Therefore,this method can improve the calculation accuracy of heat and mass transfer between liquid phase and vapor phase in a CHF prediction simulation of water-cooled divertors under the one-sided high heating condition.An experimental example is simulated based on the improved and the uncorrected methods.The simulation results,such as temperature,void fraction and heat transfer coefficient,are analyzed to achieve the CHF prediction.The results show that the maximum error of CHF based on the improved method is 23.7%,while that of CHF based on uncorrected method is up to 188%,as compared with the experiment results of Ref.[12].Finally,this method is verified by comparison with the experimental data obtained by International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor(ITER),with a maximum error of 6% only.This method provides an efficient tool for the CHF prediction of water-cooled divertors. 展开更多

The high-speed train transmission system,experiencing both the internal excitation originating from gear meshing and the external excitation originating from the wheel-rail interaction,exhibits complex dynamic behavior in the actual service environment.This paper focuses on the gearbox in the high-speed train to carry out the bench test,in which various operat-ing conditions(torques and rotation speeds)were set up and the excitation condition covering both internal and external was created.Acceleration responses on multiple positions of the gearbox were acquired in the test and the vibration behavior of the gearbox was studied.Meanwhile,a stochastic excitation modal test was also carried out on the test bench under different torques,and the modal parameter of the gearbox was identified.Finally,the sweep frequency response of the gearbox under gear meshing excitation was analyzed through dynamic modeling.The results showed that the torque has an attenuating effect on the amplitude of gear meshing frequency on the gearbox,and the effect of external excitation on the gearbox vibration cannot be ignored,especially under the rated operating condition.It was also found that the torque affects the modal param-eter of the gearbox significantly.The torque has a great effect on both the gear meshing stiffness and the bearing stiffness in the transmission system,which is the inherent reason for the changed modal characteristics observed in the modal test and affects the vibration behavior of the gearbox consequently. 展开更多

As an important part of rotating machinery,gearboxes often fail due to their complex working conditions and harsh working environment.Therefore,it is very necessary to effectively extract the fault features of the gearboxes.Gearbox fault signals usually contain multiple characteristic components and are accompanied by strong noise interference.Traditional sparse modeling methods are based on synthesis models,and there are few studies on analysis and balance models.In this paper,a balance nonconvex regularized sparse decomposition method is proposed,which based on a balance model and an arctangent nonconvex penalty function.The sparse dictionary is constructed by using Tunable Q-Factor Wavelet Transform(TQWT)that satisfies the tight frame condition,which can achieve efficient and fast solution.It is optimized and solved by alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM)algorithm,and the non-convex regularized sparse decomposition algorithm of synthetic and analytical models are given.Through simulation experiments,the determination methods of regularization parameters and balance parameters are given,and compared with the L1 norm regularization sparse decomposition method under the three models.Simulation analysis and engineering experimental signal analysis verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. 展开更多

High-speed trains typically utilize helical gear transmissions,which significantly impact the bearing load capacity and fatigue service performance of the gearbox bearings.This paper focuses on the gearbox bearings,establishing dynamic models for both helical gear and herringbone gear transmissions in high-speed trains.The modeling particularly emphasizes the precision of the bearings at the gearbox's pinion and gear wheels.Using this model,a comparative analysis is conducted on the bearing loads and contact stresses of the gearbox bearings under uniform-speed operation between the two gear transmissions.The findings reveal that the helical gear transmission generates axial forces leading to severe load imbalance on the bearings at both sides of the large gear,and this imbalance intensifies with the increase in train speed.Consequently,this results in a significant increase in contact stress on the bearings on one side.The adoption of herringbone gear transmission effectively suppresses axial forces,resolving the load imbalance issue and substantially reducing the contact stress on the originally biased side of the bearings.The study demonstrates that employing herringbone gear transmission can significantly enhance the service performance of high-speed train gearbox bearings,thereby extending their service life. 展开更多

The microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast Al−Cu−Li−Mg−Zn alloys fabricated by conventional gravity casting and centrifugal casting techniques combined with rapid solidification were investigated.Experimental results demonstrated that compared with the gravity casting technique,the water-cooling centrifugal casting technique significantly reduces porosity,refinesα(Al)grains and secondary phases,modifies the morphology of secondary phases,and mitigates both macro-and micro-segregation.These improvements arise from the synergistic effects of the vigorous backflow,centrifugal field,vibration and rapid solidification.Porosity and coarse plate-like Al13Fe4/Al7Cu2Fe phase result in the fracture before the gravity-cast alloy reaches the yield point.The centrifugal-cast alloy,however,exhibits an ultra-high yield strength of 292.0 MPa and a moderate elongation of 6.1%.This high yield strength is attributed to solid solution strengthening(SSS)of 225.3 MPa,and grain boundary strengthening(GBS)of 35.7 MPa.Li contributes the most to SSS with a scaling factor of 7.9 MPa·wt.%^(-1).The elongation of the centrifugal-cast alloy can be effectively enhanced by reducing the porosity and segregation behavior,refining the microstructure and changing the morphology of secondary phases. 展开更多

The intermediate gearbox of a helicopter operates under splash lubrication.If the bearing produces metal particles due to insufficient lubrication or wear,whether it can be adsorbed by the metal particles signal at the bottom of the gearbox and alarm directly affects the flight safety of the helicopter.Based on the CFD method,the factors affecting the accessibility of metal particles are analyzed by using the volume of fluid-discrete phase model(VOFDPM)coupling model,the RNG k-ɛturbulence model and the dynamic grid technology.Furthermore,the optimization research on the casing structure is conducted.Experimental results show that the accessibility of metal particles is optimal when the gear speed is 6000 rad/min or the immersion depth is 24 mm.The density of metal particles exhibits a nonlinear relationship with their accessibility,and the particle size has a relatively small impact on their accessibility without an order of magnitude change. 展开更多

The railway vehicle gearbox is an important part of the railway vehicle traction transmission system which ensures the smooth running of railway vehicles.However,as the running speed of railway vehicles continues to increase,the railway vehicle gearbox is exposed to a more demanding operating environment.Under both internal and external excitations,the gearbox is prone to faults such as fatigue cracks,and broken teeth.It is crucial to detect these faults before they result in severe failures and accidents.Therefore,understanding the dynamics and fault diagnosis of railway vehicle gearbox is needed.At present,there is a lack of systematic review of railway vehicle gearbox dynamics and fault diagnosis.So,this paper systematically summarizes the research progress on railway vehicle gearbox dynamics and fault diagnosis.To this end,this paper first summarizes the latest research progress on the dynamics of railway vehicle gearboxes.The dynamics and vibration characteristics of the gearbox are summarized under internal and external excitations,as well as faulty conditions.Then,the stateof-the-art signal processing and artificial intelligence methods for fault diagnosis of railway vehicle gearboxes are reviewed.In the end,future research prospects are given. 展开更多
