During the early period of the cold war, the so-called special relationship between Britain and the United States, which was established in the Second World War, had been further improved, and Britain became the leading supporter and positive partner of the U.S. cold war policy. However, this special relationship did not mean that the British stood with the American on everything. In fact, there was significant divergence and contradiction between them on the policies toward the Korean War and China. Owing to the limited power and dependence on the United States, the British finally had to make concession again and again for the sake of keeping the special relationship. The Korean War to a certain extent revealed the complexity and asymmetry of Anglo-American relations.
