Three derivatives of quaternary ammonium salts of ethanolamine were synthesized by the reaction of N,N-dimethyl ethanolamine with benzyl chloride, lauryl bromide and octadecyl bromide, respectively. The synthesis was conducted in the presence of DMF with ethyl acetate as a catalyst. Molecular structures of the derivatives were determined by IR, 13C NMR, 1H NMR and MS.
