摘要
中国传统戏剧是中国传统文化的瑰宝,在中国文学中占据重要地位,且中国传统戏剧英译是中国文化“走出去”的重要途径之一,但以往对戏剧英译的研究往往重“内容”,轻“逻辑”。该文根据汉语行文特点,将以往学者所提出的主位推进模式分类进行分析整合,修改为适用于汉英翻译(尤其是古汉语)主位推进分析的模式。并以修改后的主位推进模式为工具,从“逻辑”角度出发,分析《牡丹亭》原本语篇主位推进模式,以及汪榕培英译的主位推进模式转换策略,探究中国传统戏剧英译逻辑转换思路。研究发现,《牡丹亭》原作语篇主位推进模式主要分为主位延续型、延续型和主位延续型复合模式、交叉型复合模式三类。汪榕培在构建译文话语时主要采取直接保留、适当调整和重新建构三种策略。
Chinese traditional drama holds a significant position in Chinese literature.The translation of traditional dramas into English serves as one way for Chinese culture"going out".In accordance with the characteristics of Chinese discourse,this paper integrates the previous thematic progression modes into one suitable for Chinese-English translation(especially for ancient Chinese)analyses.The paper uses the mode to analyze The Peony Pavilion and Wang Rongpei's English translation for exploring logical transformation approaches in translating Chinese traditional dramas into English.It has been found through research that the thematic progression mode of The Peony Pavilion can be mainly classified into three patterns,including constant theme pattern,blended pattern of simple linear and constant theme,and crossing pattern.Wang mainly employs three primary strategies,including preservation,adjustment,and reconstruction.
