One Summer Day,an early play by 2023 Nobel Prize winner Fosse,focuses on a story that takes place by the sea.In the text,Fosse constructs a theatrical space that juxtaposes the real and the imaginary through the reproduction of trauma in the individual space,the entanglement of desires between people,and the display of subject-object mirroring between people and objects.This unique spatial setting,which is both an inheritance of Western realist theater and an echo of modernist theatrical creations,reveals the existential situation of modern people.In particular,his attention to the dilemma and mode of personal subjective consciousness and interpersonal interaction enriches the artistic characteristics of the work.
