摘要
日裔英籍作家石黑一雄的小说多是讲述人物对过去生活的回忆,且常将“光”叙事融入记忆书写。小说中,“光”的显现与柏拉图的洞穴隐喻遥相呼应,寄寓着引领人物摆脱过去经历困扰的愿景。但是,在故事的叙事进程中,“光”并没有真正帮助人物改变与世界之间陌异疏离的关系,反而被他们记忆中的光影掩盖遮蔽。记忆光影持存着人物与过去世界的复杂缠结,隐藏了他们对当下世界的真实感知,也成了阻碍他们走出洞穴的深渊。作者以“光”照亮深渊,也传达出对陷入记忆困境的人们的伦理反思。
Kazuo Ishiguro’s novels mainly focus on protagonists’collections of the past.One typical feature of his memory writing is that he always integrates“light”narration into his memory writing.In his novels,the“light”echoes Plato’s cave metaphor,with the best wish to guide people out of the trap of illusions.In the narrative process of the story,“light”,however,does not really help the characters change their estranged relationship with the world.Instead,they are imprisoned by the light and shadow in their memories,which hold the complex entanglement between characters and the past world,hiding their true perception of the present world,and becoming an abyss that prevents them from walking out of their caves.Kazuo Ishiguro uses“light”to illuminate the abyss,and conveys his ethical reflection on people trapped in memory.
