摘要
语用学和社会语言学都关注语言与社会的关系。一些学者试图将二者合而为一,另一些学者则试图划清二者的界限。本文不太认同上述两种带有极端色彩的做法,而是认为二者既有核心分工又有界面交叉。语用学与社会语言学的接口研究即是这种交叉性的研究。基于现有相关研究和学科性思考,本文在进一步梳理两大学科的关联与区别的基础上,尝试界定语用学与社会语言学的接口研究,勾画其主要目标,并呈现相关接口研究的重要议题。希望本文能吸引更多的学者开展二者的接口研究。
Pragmatics and sociolinguistics both address the relation between language and society. Some scholars attempt to combine the two fields whereas others propose to sever them fully apart. This paper endorses neither of the two somewhat radical views but instead argues for a division of core labor and an interface between the two. Research at the interface between the two fields represents a cross-disciplinary nature. Based on existing related research and disciplinary reflections, this study starts by examining the interrelatedness and differentiation between the two fields, moves on to delineate and define the interface research between the two, outline its major goals, and ends by demonstrating some major topic areas. It is hoped that this paper may serve to attract more scholars’ engagement with the pragmatics-sociolinguistic interface research.
