The Diasporic Subject and the Plant“Other”:On Richard Powers’s The Overstory

摘要当代美国作家理查德·鲍尔斯在其新作《上层林冠》中延续了一贯的多声部叙事风格,以多个家庭九位故事人物的生命轨迹为主要线索,辅之以大量的植物学知识和植物生命书写,展现了一幅后人类主体与他者共生关系的图景。小说通过对美国流散主体之身份构建困境的展演,以及对美国土地上植物他者的身份辨析,挑战了人类中心主义的主体观,从而实现了对植物他者的伦理反思,昭示出一种物种之间的“后人类共同体”诉求,对这一主题的持续关注也凸显了鲍尔斯作为一位当代美国作家的道德责任感。
