Objective To study the clinical effects of relaxation therapy on negative emotions in senile patients with chronic congestive heart failure. Methods 140 patients with chronic congestive heart failure were selected from July 2013 to June 2016 in our hospital and divided into the study group and the conventional therapy group randomly, with 70 patients in each group. The study group was treated with the relaxation therapy based on routine nursing while the conventional therapy group was given routine nursing. The scores of World Health Organization on Quality of Life Brief Scale(WHOQOL-BREF), Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) and Symptom Checklist(SCL-90) were assessed and compared between the two groups, and the clinical efficacy of the two groups were evaluated. Results The two groups did not differ statistically before intervention in scores of these scales above(P〈0.05). After intervention of relaxation therapy, the score of WHOQOL-BREF in the study group was statistically higher than that in the conventional group(P〈0.05). The scores of SDS, SAS and SCL-90 of the study group were all significantly lower than the conventional therapy group(P〈0.05). The total clinical efficacy rate was 90% in the study group, which was significantly higher than that of the conventional group(75.5%)(P〈0.05). Conclusion Relaxation therapy can improve the quality of life of senile patients with chronic congestive heart failure, relieve their negative emotions, and thus increase the clinical efficacy.
