The kinematics and ground reaction force data of 16 male subjects, wearing the toe-only rocker sole shoes and flat shoes respectively, walking on the ground at self-selected speed were collected by using infrared high-speed motion capture system of Motion and three-dimensional force platform system of Kistler. Dynamic stability during walking was investigated by using stability margin (SM) as evaluation index. Results show that for toe-only rocker sole shoes, the dorsiflexion angles of ankle significantly reduce at the stand phase(P〈0.001 ). The flexion angles of knee decrease and the plantar flexion angles of ankle increase significantly at the toe-off phase. There is no significant difference in anterior-posterior SM, while medio-lateral SM with toe-only rocker sole shoes significantly increases compared with flat shoes (P = 0.02)at the heel landing moment. Therefore toe-only rocker sole shoes can significantly decrease dorsiflexion angles of ankle, which is help for toe-off of the supporting leg. And they have greater stability in medio-lateral and lower fall down risk compared with flat shoes.
