The extraction rate and the antioxidant activity of Atractylodesmacrocephala were as follows. The volume fraction of methanol, the ratio of material to liquid, the extraction time and the extraction temperature were selected as independent variables. The single factor experiment and the response surface method were used to optimize the extraction process. The extraction rate was 1.5 h, and the yield was 42.2322% under the above conditions,which was basically consistent with the expected value of the model (42.2566%). The results showed that the Ics0 of DPPH free radicals was 0. 238 g/L,and the clearance rate was better than that of the control.
