This paper discusses the development and changes of the musical houses in the Former and Later Shu Dynasties(907--965) from three aspects.First, the differences of musical houses in the Former and Later Shu Dynasties(907--965) from Tang Dynasty(618--907) are embodied in the power extension and the rise in social status of the musicians.Second, the changes of the musical houses in the Former and Later Shu Dynasties reveal the relation between the court music and the popular music in their competition since Mid-Tang Dynasty and Five-Dynasty Period(907--960).Third,the changes in materials and nature are one of the important causes for the musical houses in Northern Song Dynasty(960--1127) to absorb court and popular music together.
