Human attention to death is as long as the history of man. Ancient philosophy, ethics, history, linguistics, even anthropology, mythology, culturology, and psychology, humanistic disciplines that matured only recently, have touched upon death-an ultimate issue man has to face-from different perspectives and to different degrees, let alone biology, medicine, genetics and other natural sciences. This article looks into the influence of the awareness of death upon artists in terms of their comprehension and aesthetic presentation in their artistic creation.
