Social circle derives from Europe in the 17th century. It indicates a social network that builds up by people from the same stratum with similar interests. Club is a form of social circle. Nowadays, the club culture more intensely reveals it’s 'Appearance- Preferring'—it standardizing people’s social status but still contradictorily emphasizes 'personalization.' Appearance can make others judge our social status easily. In a similar way, the appearance of club also has impact on its members. Custom, the exterior tag of our body, has been taken really seriously in most upscale clubs. To take care of the insides, most clubs have expensive regimen too. As a result, bodies become a media that shows their owner’s prestige, wealth and dignity. The functionalization of bodies also shows in the 'Gender Stereotypes.' In a comprehensive club that the membership fee is at least 50,000CNY, women spend most money on taking care of their bodies such as spa or facial. For men, the way of taking care of their body also shows through expensive fitness, watch and roadster. The 'Appearance-Preferring' is unified, but contradictorily, club also emphasizes personalization to make customers enjoy 'indulgence' through relaxation. However, is this indulgence really frees the body and shows personality? Or, maybe it simulates indulgence and ordinary, which inversely outlines those people’s non- ordinary and nobility. Anyhow, people manage their own body and use it to control their social status. The more well known we get, the more we are enslaved to a 'spell': Are you feeling good under you skin?
