Function Movement Screen (FMS) was firstly introduced by American physical ther- apist Gray Cook, and widely applied in sport, fire-fighting, military, and public fitness, giving the background that physical therapy changed its emphasis to movement, and that void existed between general medical diagnosis and performance tests. FMS consists of seven fundamental testing movements (deep squat, hurdle step, and in-line lunge, shoulder mobility, active straight leg raise, trunk stability push-up, and rotary stability), which are designed to predict and prevent injury during sports and exercises. Although investigations on FMS are limited, moderate to high reliability and validity could still be found for this screen. As a low-cost, easy screen with relative high reliability and validity, the advent of FMS expanded and multiplied the information from pre-exercise testing. It is recommended that the future studies can use as less as possible, but experienced, ratters, expand subjects' volume, define injury more uniformly, and in this way establish normative FMS scores in various groups of people.
