Study on the bursts of traffic in networks

摘要 流量作为网络的三大重要组成部分之一,已成为网络领域的研究热点。本文对数据通信和计算机网络中流量所固有的突发性(burstiness)的行为特征与建模、突发性所产生机理、突发性对网络性能的影响以及突发流量的仿真等方面的研究进行分析,提出了这些研究内容中的关键问题和技术。为了解网络流量特性和控制网络正常运行提供参考。 Traffic, as one of the three important network components, has become a hot topic in the field of network research. In this paper, we analyze and summarize the inherent behavior characteristics of data communication and computer network including burstiness and traffic models. We also analyze the inner mechanism that generates burstiness traffic and its impact on the network performances. Then, we review the simulation of the burstiness traffic. Finally, we identify problems and suggest solutions for the sake of better interpretation of network traffic characteristics and smooth running of networks.
