A developmental reversal in false memory refers to the counterintuitive phenomenon of age increases in false memory during childhood under certain circumstances(e.g.DRM paradigm). From the angle of trace decline, the fuzzy-trace theory attributes false memory to the different representation of gist processing and literal processing in memory declining.Associative-activation theory attributes false memory to association tensity of the items from memory activation's perspective. The effect of developmental reversal provides new turning point for comparing the difference between children and adults in memory coding, maintaining and extracting.Meanwhile, developmental reversal tell us that in judicial practice the truthfulness of testimony will not vary absolutely due to age differences and the process of memory procession, the characteristics of knowledge and vocabulary should be the main factors for examining the correctness of memory.
