Apoptosis is a physiological process of self-destruction in certain cells that is determined by genes and can be initiated by a stimulus or by removal of a repressor agent, which helps to keep the number of cells relatively constant.During spermatogenesis of mammal,to ensure the quality and quantity of mature sperm, the spermatogenic cells may be optimized via apoptosis with critical regulation. The apoptosis of spermatogenic cells is a sophisticated irreversible process that a lot of genes are involved, such as Bcl-2/Bax gene cluster,p53,Fas-Fasl,C-myc,CREM,HSP gene cluster,c-Kit/SCF,Insl3,iNOS,BMP8B,TR and survivin.Studying and researching the genes associated with apoptosis of spermatogenic cells of mammal is in favor of understanding the mechanism of apoptosis, thus providing important information to further illuminate the regulation mechanism of spermatogenesis, prevent and treat physiological and pathological diseases.
