Chitosanase,hydrolyzing specific \|1,4 glycosyl bond,is a novel enzyme and defined as the family 46 of glycosyl hydrolyase.It is classified into 3 classes according to the hydrolysis specificity.The distribution,physical and chemical properties and immobilization of chitosanase are summarized briefly.The latest progress in hydrolysis specificity and molecular biology of chitosanase is reviewed.The application of chitosanase into the defense against pathogen of plant is described.\;
