Ceramics samples of tungsten trioxide doped with lithium carbonate and sodium carbonate are prepared by conventional ceramic technique. The molar proportion of lithium carbonate varies from 2 % to 0 with sodium carbonate from 0 to 2%. The current voltage characteristics of these ceramics are also measured. Some of the I-V curves show obvious negative resistance characteristics. It is found that there exists a direct correlation between the negative resistance phenomenon in the I - V curves and the electrical history of these samples. X-ray diffraction (XRD) reveals coexistence of two phases of tungsten trioxide. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) shows great differences for both grain shape and size among the different ceramics. All of these indicate that Na^+ doped into tungsten trioxide inhibits the effect of Li^+.And obvious mixed alkali effect is also observed.
