Objective To explore the relationships between obesity and the single nucleotide polymophism rs7566605 in Chinese adolescents, and to provide reference for the research on the incidence of rs7566605 in Chinese people. Methods Altogether 919 middle-school students were selected from Dongcheng District, Beijing. Physical examination and the polymorphism analysis were performed for all subjects. Results The frequency of rs7566605 Callele was 35.9%, similar to that of European and Americans. The differences of genotype and frequeneies were not statistically significant among the normalweight, overweight and chesity groups( P 〉 0.05). However, the frequeney of CC genotype of the extremely obese students was significantly higher than that of the normal-weight group, which was 18.5% and 10.3% respectively. The cartier of CC genotype was more likely to become extremely obese than the GG/ GC carrier(OR=1.101, P〈0.05). The average BMI of CC carriers was 0.88kg/m^2 higher than that of GG/GCC people(P〈0.05). Conclusion The single nueleotide polvmorphism rs7566605 is associated with extremely chesity in Chinese adolescents. The carrier of CC genotype has higher risk to become extremely obese.
