Bezklik Stone Cave Grottoes, also called 'Lofty Happiness Temple', was built in 555 and was a royal family temple of the Qu family. It is also a memorial religious building that aims to maintain a 'friendly' relationship between Gaochang under the Qu family and the Turkic people and to ensure 'permanent frontier defense'. Monks such as Zhitong, Jinghui and Fahui of the Han nationality who were fluent with the Turkie language lived between the end of the seventh century and the early eighth century. Since the autumn of 790, this temple was run again as a royal temple by the Uighur. The 32nd cave has portraits of Uighur male and female donators who are of the Jas Gujulu family.
