Four days after endotoxin 1.0 mg·kg-1 intraperitoneal injection,the latent periods of on-set of asthma in guinea pigs inhaled histamine(His)and pD2 value of isoprenaline hydrochloride(Iso)were decreased,meanwhile pD2 value of His and Hislevels of lung tissue and plasma were increasedsignificantly.Ammonium glycyrrhizanate 50 mg.kg.d-1 ip x 4 inhibited the effect of endotoxin andincreased cortisol levels of serum.The results indicatedthat ammonium glycyrrhizanate could preventbacterial infectioninduced bronchial hyperreactivity.
