摘要
Through researching on the play and the social,historic and cultural background and analyzing the characteristics of artistic creation,the author believes that the creation and performance of The East is Red, the Musical and Dancing Epic,politically,was an artistic“Big Leap Forward”which once exerted a tremendous influence before the Great Cultural Revolution.It has got greater achievements in the creations of music and dance and reached the highest level at that time,with such a large number of performers acting,the creation time so short,the significant theme and forms mastered so perfectly,art combined with politics so successfully,music and dance becoming such a perfect pair.It has set a classical example of the large-scale comprehensive stage art in the contemporary music history.To sum up,wehave to think of the relations again between art and politics,individual and collectivecreation,the raising of artistic standards and popularization,religious fanaticism and art creation,etc. [
