摘要
文化的"跨越"与"超越"是跨文化交际能力培养的两个层面.前者的焦点是对具体的目的语文化的理解和有关交际能力的提高,后者的焦点是获得一般的、整体意义上的文化意识以及反思的、宽容的态度.在目前的中国英语教学中,"跨越"是文化教学的主要关注点,但"超越"应是更为重要的教育目标.
Going across' and 'going beyond' cultures are proposed as two levels of intercultural communication competence development. The former focuses on the increase of target culture proficiency, whereas the latter focuses on the gaining of cultural awareness and reflective, tolerant attitudes. While 'going across' has been the major concern of culture teaching in Chinese ELT, it is proposed that 'going beyond' is more important as a pedagogical objective.
