The coordination between plants and nature in the process of their evolution results in the occurrence of biogenic volatile organic components (BVOCs), which on the one hand, is influenced by the activities of the insects, microbes, and the human beings, while on the other hand, generates restraints on insects and microbes which help to reduce injuries done to themselves. Presently, researches on BVOCs, whether internationally or domestically, mostly start from the study of the relationships between plants and insects, and plants and microbes, and as a result, chemecology with a focus on allelopathy comes into shape whereas the negative effects of BVOCs on the human beings, especially on the human health, are seldom discussed. Based on the preparatory research carried out by us, the article tries to elaborate the reasons for the formation of BVOCs, their main compositions and their effects on the environment and the other creatures, especially those negative effects on human health and security, thus theoretically supporting further studies on the VOCs and their effects on the human health and security.
