Prevention of Hot Cracking by Trailing Cooling along the Weld

摘要 A new method for preventing welding hot cracking─welding with trailing cooling along the weld(WTC)has been studied from the viewpoint of welding mechanics.Experiments have been carried out to prove the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.Results of real time measurement of transverse displacement show that the transverse compressive strain applied to the weld metal in the brittle temperature range(BTR)by the intensive cooling behind the welding pool is one of the most important causes of the hot cracking prevention.
