The site is located to the due north of the source of the Huaqing Spring and superimposed by the Huaqing Palace of the Tang dynasty.
The pool has a roughly rectangular plan, measuring 7.5-8. 1 m. west to east, 9. 5m north to south and 0.45 m in surviving depth. The walls of the pool consists of an inner side of laid stones and an water-proof outer side of rammed earth. The bottom, 6. 7 by 6.5m,is paved with a layer of plain square bricks upon a layer of rammed brownish black earth that in turn overlaps a layer of thin stone flakes. The sink is provided at the northeastern corner. Two pottery jar bottoms are found glued on the center of the bottom of the pool.
The water came from a rectangular pool of 5.85 by 3 by 2.1m to the northeast of the source of the Huaqing Spring. The pool has walls of laid stone with a coat of square bricks. A stone is laid at the center of its bottom, where water gushed from beneath it.
On the western side of the pool. is a group of buildings whose remnants include a northern wall,an eastern and a southern partition, and the fallen frame of beams and roof. One of the beams still measures 5.42m. Other architectural details include wooden door, circular tile, plate tile, end tile, etc.,
The excavation casts new light on buildings of the Qin-Han period in terms of their frame structure, layout as well some bathing details.
