In this paper,together with itsapplication in psychology,Fisher's clu-stering method for ordered samples(namely,optimal ovision method)ispresented,taking fr example the dataprocessing of Smith's experiment onthe mastering of words in children,ofthe experiment made by the Instituteof Psychology on the memory develop-ment of adults in the Beijing area,andof Ebbinghaus' forgetting curve,etc.An algorithm to reduce storage andcomputation time is introducedin brieffor the implemention of the optimaldivision method with(microprocessors). The function of the optimal divisionmethod in psychology is discussed byway of a comparison with F-test andt-test.
