摘要
针对罗选民指出的“中国译界目前仍然没有科学方法可以评估译文”的问题,本文提出并定义“忠优美”的翻译原则和配套的可用于译文质量评估的“体神表”平衡模式,并对中国翻译名家的六个汉诗英译例子进行示范分析与评估。
In response to Luo Xuanmin's 'we [scholars in China] are still unable to evaluate translations in a very scientific way', this paper proposes and defines a translation criterion called FO-RASL-BATL, or FRB, or 'Faithful to the original, refined as the source language (is) and beautiful as the target language (should be)'. Also proposed and defined is a twin COSB Model - a framework of balance between 'contenphysique', or ti,'origispirit', or shen, and 'stylappearance', or biao, that serves FO-RASL-BATL and that can be used in translation quality analysis and evaluation. The application of the criterion and the model is illustrated through the analysis and evaluation of six sample translations done by well-known translators in China.
