The...Based on the coherent feedforward transcription regulation loops in somatic cell reprogramming process, a stochastic kinetic model is proposed to study the intrinsic fluctuations in the somatic cell reprogramming. The Fano factor formulas of key genes expression level in the coherent feedforward transcription regulation loops are derived by using of Langevin theory. It is found that the internal fluctuations of gene expression levels mainly depend on itself activation ratio and degradation ratio. When the self-activation ratio(or self-degradation ratio) is increased, the Fano factor increases reaches a maximum and then decreases. The susceptibility is used to measure the sensitivity of steady-state response to the variation in systemic parameters. It is found that with the increase of the self-activation ratio(or self-degradation ratio), the susceptibility of steady-state increases at first, it reaches a maximum, and it then decreases. The magnitude of the maximum is increased with the increase of activated ratio by the upstream transcription factor.展开更多
This study aimed to investigate the link between the exposure to intimate partner violence(IPV),core self-evaluations(CSE),and psychological adaptation of Chinese adolescents,through analysis of the results from the S...This study aimed to investigate the link between the exposure to intimate partner violence(IPV),core self-evaluations(CSE),and psychological adaptation of Chinese adolescents,through analysis of the results from the Survey of Children’s Exposure to Domestic Violence Scale,Core Self-Evaluations Scale,and Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire,involving a total of 597 Chinese middle school students.It is indicated that the exposure to IPV is positively correlated with lower levels of psychological adaptation and CSE,and CSE is positively correlated with higher levels of psychological adaptation.Mediation analysis revealed that CSE partially mediated the association between the exposure to IPV and psychological adaptation.These results suggest that educators and parents should help adolescents tackle their emotional and behavioral problems by reducing the risk of IPV exposure and increasing their CSE.展开更多

Economic growth affects natural resources and the environment directly and indirectly;however,the exact role that natural resources play in environmental sustainability remains unknown.This paper revisits the relation...Economic growth affects natural resources and the environment directly and indirectly;however,the exact role that natural resources play in environmental sustainability remains unknown.This paper revisits the relationship between natural resources and CO_(2)emissions by considering the role of green finance vis-à-vis the aggregated and disaggregated analysis.Empirical panel data estimation analyzes a sample of emerging countries over the 2001-2019 period using the recently developed econometric cross-sectional auto-regressive distributed lag(CS-ARDL)technique.The findings show that natural resource components(natural gas,mineral rent,oil rent,and coal rent)are negatively associated with environmental pollution.In contrast,overall natural resource consumption helps reduce carbon emissions.However,we find that green finance contributes to carbon emission reduction.In contrast,education causes pollution by contributing to carbon emissions.We offer policy recommendations about the effectiveness of green financing for the sustainable use of natural resources in diminishing pollution.展开更多
CoSbS-based compounds are good thermoelectric materials with low thermal conductivity and good electrical properties,which can effectively be used to improve the efficiency of many thermoelectric conversion processes....CoSbS-based compounds are good thermoelectric materials with low thermal conductivity and good electrical properties,which can effectively be used to improve the efficiency of many thermoelectric conversion processes.In order to improve their properties even more,in this study a series of experiments have been conducted in the frame of the traditional solid-phase synthesis and high-pressure method.It is shown that if the mass fluctuation and stress fluctuation in the considered CoSbS system increase,the scattering probability of phonons is enhanced and the lattice thermal conductivity of the material is reduced.Adding a small amount of Se can simultaneously optimize three thermoelectric properties,i.e.,the Seebeck coefficient is improved,the thermal conductivity becomes smaller and the quality factor grows.At the same time,the thermal and electrical properties of bulk materials can be optimized by using nano-scale Ni doped CoSbS samples.As shown by the experiments,Nidoped Co sites can effectively improve the carrier concentration,the effective mass of the density of states of the material,and the power factor.Under the same temperature conditions,the thermoelectric figure of merit(ZT)of Co1−yNiySbS1−xSex synthesized under high pressure,at x=0.15,y=0.1 is much higher than the corresponding value for CoSbS prepared by traditional methods.展开更多

Lodging is a common problemin rice,reducing its yield andmechanical harvesting efficiency.Rice architecture is a key aspect of its domestication and a major factor that limits its high productivity.The ideal rice culm...Lodging is a common problemin rice,reducing its yield andmechanical harvesting efficiency.Rice architecture is a key aspect of its domestication and a major factor that limits its high productivity.The ideal rice culm structure,includingmajor_axis_culm,minor axis_culm,andwall thickness_culm,is critical for improving lodging resistance.However,the traditionalmethod ofmeasuring rice culms is destructive,time consuming,and labor intensive.In this study,we used a high-throughput micro-CT-RGB imaging system and deep learning(SegNet)todevelopa high-throughputmicro-CTimageanalysis pipelinethatcanextract 24 riceculmmorphological traits and lodging resistance-related traits.When manual and automatic measurements were compared at themature stage,the mean absolute percentage errors for major_axis_culm,minor_axis_culm,andwall_thickness_culmin 104 indica rice accessionswere 6.03%,5.60%,and 9.85%,respectively,and the R^(2) valueswere 0.799,0.818,and 0.623.We also builtmodels of bending stress using culmtraits at the mature and tillering stages,and the R^(2) values were 0.722 and 0.544,respectively.The modeling results indicated that this method can quantify lodging resistance nondestructively,even at an early growth stage.In addition,we also evaluated the relationships of bending stress toshoot dryweight,culm density,and drought-related traits and found that plants with greater resistance to bending stress had slightly higher biomass,culm density,and culm area but poorer drought resistance.In conclusion,we developed a deep learning-integrated micro-CT image analysis pipeline to accurately quantify the phenotypic traits of rice culms in4.6 min per plant;this pipeline will assist in future high-throughput screening of large rice populations for lodging resistance.展开更多
