The semi-conductive performances of hot growth film on 316L stainless steel were studied by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and Mott-Schottky analysis.The chemical compositions of the hot growth...The semi-conductive performances of hot growth film on 316L stainless steel were studied by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and Mott-Schottky analysis.The chemical compositions of the hot growth films were detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The results show that the transfer resistance and film resistance increase with increasing temperature to 400℃,then they decrease sharply with further continuously increasing temperature.Formation time plays an important role in determining the electron properties of the hot growth film,when formation time reaches to 1 d,the transfer resistance and film resistance reach to the maximum value.Hot growth film has better anticorrosion behaviour in bicarbonate/carbonate solution containing chloride ions or sulfide ions.Mott-Schottky analysis reveals that hot growth film has n-p type semi-conductive property.XPS results show that the hot growth film is mainly composed of the inner chromium oxide and the outer iron oxide.展开更多
It is necessary to modify the running-in process for the application of ceramics using water as a lubricant in real conditions because ceramics sliding in water are characterized by a running-in period with severe fri...It is necessary to modify the running-in process for the application of ceramics using water as a lubricant in real conditions because ceramics sliding in water are characterized by a running-in period with severe friction and wear.Fullerenol,a kind of highly water-soluble nanoparticle,was synthesized and then used to ameliorate the tribological properties of Si 3 N 4 sliding against Al 2 O 3 in pure water.With the addition of fullerenol,the running-in period was shortened from 30 min to 100 s at a speed of 250 mm/s.The speed threshold above which ultralow friction can be obtained in a short time was expanded from 450 mm/s to 80 mm/s.Meanwhile,the load-carrying ability of water film was increased.The role of fullerenol was discussed based on observation of the wear scar by an optical interferometer and XPS characterization of the tribo-film on the wear track.展开更多
The valuation of the hydraulic performance of a centrifugal pump with pre-whirl regulation of the inlet guide vanes was studied experimentally by varying the pre-whirl angle from -60° to 60° with distances b...The valuation of the hydraulic performance of a centrifugal pump with pre-whirl regulation of the inlet guide vanes was studied experimentally by varying the pre-whirl angle from -60° to 60° with distances between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet of 280 mm, 380 mm and 460 mm. The efficiency-flow curves and the characteristic curves were obtained for the pump for various operation conditions. The experiment results demonstrated that the pre-whirl regulation widened the high efficiency zone and improved the hydraulic performance for off-design conditions with the proper pre-whirl angle. The axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet influenced the pre-whirl regulation effect of the inlet guide vanes with the best pre-whirl regulation effect obtained for an axial distance of 380 mm. These results showed that an appropriate axial distance between the inlet guide vanes and the impeller inlet can improve the fluid flow at the impeller entrance with pre-whirl regulation for centrifugal pumps.展开更多

The debris produced in vibration cavitation tests of three kinds of carbon steel were collected.Their geometric features were analyzed quantitatively and observed respectively by a profilometer and a scanning electron...The debris produced in vibration cavitation tests of three kinds of carbon steel were collected.Their geometric features were analyzed quantitatively and observed respectively by a profilometer and a scanning electronic microscope(SEM) with reference to the investigation of the cavitation damaged surface by SEM and X-ray diffraction(XRD) .It was found that among the debris produced in all cavitation erosion stages,more than 45%were platelets because of the occurrence of dislocation and cleavage fracture,and only less than 25%were strands.The number of granule was small in the first cavitation erosion stage and increased rapidly to the number comparable with that of platelets in the next stage,and then reduced in the third stage.The sphericity values of the debris varied in accordance with the stages of cavitation damage,which were 0.3―0.4 in the incubation stage,0.5―0.7 in the acceleration stage and not less than 0.5 in the maximum rate stage,although a slight decrease occurred in the third stage.展开更多
