Building on a specification of the world city network as a′interlocking network′in which business services firms play the crucial role in city network formation, information is gathered about the presence of global service firms in cities. This information is converted into data to provide the′service value′of a city for a firm′s provision of corporate services in a 526(cities)×175(firms) matrix. These data are then used as the input to the interlocking network model in order to measure cities′connectivity and its predominant geographical orientation. Here we focus on the position of some key Chinese cities in this regard, and discuss and interpret results in the context of the urban dimensions of the′opening up′of the Chinese economy.展开更多

The update consists of an evaluation of the connectivity of Chinese cities in 2016, the supplement of an analysis of the changing position of Chinese cities in the world city network between 2010 and 2016. To this end, we build on a specification of the world city network as an ‘interlocking network' in which producer services firms play the crucial role in city network formation. Information about the presence of leading producer services firms in cities in 2010 and 2016 is used as the input to a bipartite network projection algorithm in order to measure cities' network connectivity. The first set of results discusses the geographies of urban connectivity in the world city network in 2016. The second set of results discusses standardized measures of change to reveal the major dimensions of the transformations between 2010 and 2016. We find that, with the exception of Hong Kong, Macao and Kaohsiung of Taiwan, all Chinese cities record connectivity gains. This wholesale rise in connectivity is nonetheless geographically uneven, with above all Beijing, Chengdu/Chongqing and Changsha/Wuhan becoming more connected. We conclude that the wholesale rise of Chinese cities in the world city network and their changing trajectories in the post-crisis era are embedded in shifting external and internal political economies.展开更多

A new synthesized multidisci- plinary customer requirements modeling method is pro- vided for obtaining and describing the common understanding of customer requirements (CRs) and more importantly transferring them into a detailed and accurate product design specifications (PDS) to interact with dif- ferent team members effectively. A case study of designing a high speed train verifies the rationality and feasibility of the proposed multidisciplinary requirement modeling method for complex mechatronic product development. This proposed research offersthe instruction to realize the customer-driven personalized customization of complex mechatronic product.展开更多

One of the strategies to tune surface wettability is modifying surface topography at micro-and nanoscales. In this research, periodic micro-and nanostructures were patterned on several polymer surfaces by ultra-precision single point diamond turning to investigate the relationships between surface topographies at the micro-and nanoscales and their surface wettability. This research revealed that single-point diamond turning could be used to enhance the wettability of a variety of polymers, including polyvinyl chloride(PVC), polyethylene 1000(PE1000), polypropylene copolymer(PP) and polytetrafluoroethylene(PFTE), which cannot be processed by conventional semiconductor-based manufacturing processes. Materials exhibiting common wettability properties(θ≈ 90°) changed to exhibit "superhydrophobic" behavior(θ > 150°). Compared with the size of the structures, the aspect ratio of the void space between micro-and nanostructures has a strong impact on surface wettability.展开更多

Currently, a most approach for design change is lack of take the multi-disciplinary coupling relationships and the number of parameters into account integrally. A new design change model is presented to systematically analyze and search change propagation paths. Firstly, a PDS-Be- havior-Structure-based design change model is established to describe requirement changes causing the design change propagation in behavior and structure domains. Secondly, a multi-disciplinary oriented behavior matrix is utilized to support change propagation analysis of complex product systems, and the interaction relationships of the matrix elements are used to obtain an initial set of change paths. Finally, a rough set-based propagation space reducing tool is developed to assist in narrowing change propagation paths by computing the importance of the design change parameters. The proposed new design change model and its associated tools have been demonstrated by the scheduling change propagation paths of high speed train's bogie to show its feasibility and effectiveness. This model is not only supportive to response quickly to diversified market requirements, but also helpful to satisfy customer require- ments and reduce product development lead time. The proposed new design change model can be applied in a wide range of engineering systems design with improved efficiency.展开更多

文摘MXene,a transition metal carbide/nitride,has been prominent as an ideal electrochemical active material for supercapacitors. However, the low MXene load limits its practical applications. As environmental concerns and sustainable development become more widely recognized,it is necessary to explore a greener and cleaner technology to recycle textile by-products such as cotton. The present study proposes an effective 3D fabrication method that uses MXene to fabricate waste denim felt into ultralight and flexible supercapacitors through needling and carbonization. The 3D structure provided more sites for loading MXene onto Z-directional fiber bundles, resulting in more efficient ion exchange between the electrolyte and electrodes.Furthermore, the carbonization process removed the specific adverse groups in MXenes, further improving the specific capacitance, energy density, power density and electrical conductivity of supercapacitors. The electrodes achieve a maximum specific capacitance of 1748.5 mF cm-2 and demonstrate remarkable cycling stability maintaining more than 94%after 15,000 galvanostatic charge/discharge cycles.Besides, the obtained supercapacitors present a maximum specific capacitance of 577.5 mF cm^(-2),energy density of 80.2μWh cm^(-2)and power density of 3 mW cm^(-2),respectively.The resulting supercapacitors can be used to develop smart wearable power devices such as smartwatches, laying the foundation for a novel strategy of utilizing waste cotton in a high-quality manner.

文摘This is an empirical paper that measures and interprets the position of Chinese cities in the world city network in 2010. Here we focus on the position of some key Chinese cities in this regard, and discuss and interpret results in the context of the urban dimensions of the′opening up′of the Chinese economy.
文摘Against the backdrop of the sizable economic growth of China in recent years, this paper uses the most recent data gathering of the Globalization and World Cities(Ga WC) research network to update and supplement earlier research on the shifting global connectivity of Chinese cities. We conclude that the wholesale rise of Chinese cities in the world city network and their changing trajectories in the post-crisis era are embedded in shifting external and internal political economies.

文摘With the increasing of complexity of complex mechatronic products, it is necessary to involve multidis- ciplinary design teams, thus, the traditional customer requirements modeling for a single discipline team becomes difficult to be applied in a multidisciplinary team and project since team members with various disciplinary backgrounds may have different interpretations of the customers' requirements. This proposed research offersthe instruction to realize the customer-driven personalized customization of complex mechatronic product.

文摘A dynamic model of a flexible rotor supported by ball bearings with rubber damping rings was proposed by combining the finite element and the mass-centralized method. In the proposed model, the rotor was built with the Timoshenko beam element, while the supports and bearing outer rings were modelled by the mass-centralized method.Meanwhile, the influences of the rotor’s gravity, unbalanced force and nonlinear bearing force were considered. The governing equations were solved by precise integration and the Runge-Kutta hybrid numerical algorithm. To verify the correctness of the modelling method, theoretical and experimental analysis is carried out by a rotor-bearing test platform, where the error rate between the theoretical and experimental studies is less than 10%.Besides that, the influence of the rubber damping ring on the dynamic properties of the rotor-bearing coupling system is also analyzed. The conclusions obtained are in agreement with the real-world deployment. On this basis, the bifurcation and chaos behaviors of the coupling system were carried out with rotational speed and rubber damping ring’s stiffness. The results reveal that as rotational speed increases, the system enters into chaos by routes of crisis,quasi-periodic and intermittent bifurcation. However, the paths of crisis,quasi-periodic bifurcation, and Hopf bifurcation to chaos were detected under the parameter of rubber damping ring’s stiffness.Additionally, the bearing gap affects the rotor system’s dynamic characteristics. Moreover, the excessive bearing gap will make the system’s periodic motion change into chaos, and the rubber damping ring’s stiffness has a substantial impact on the system motion.

文摘Zinc metal batteries have been considered as a promising candidate for next-generation batteries due to their high safety and low cost. However, their practical applications are severely hampered by the poor cyclability that caused by the undesired dendrite growth of metallic Zn.Herein,Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene was first used as electrolyte additive to facilitate the uniform Zn deposition by controlling the nucleation and growth process of Zn.Such MXene additives can not only be absorbed on Zn foil to induce uniform initial Zn deposition via providing abundant zincophilic-O groups and subsequently participate in the formation of robust solid-electrolyte interface film, but also accelerate ion transportation by reducing the Zn^(2+) concentration gradient at the electrode/electrolyte interface.Consequently,MXene-containing electrolyte realizes dendrite-free Zn plating/striping with high Coulombic efficiency(99.7%)and superior reversibility(stably up to 1180 cycles). When applied in full cell, the Zn-V_(2)O_(5)cell also delivers significantly improved cycling performances. This work provides a facile yet effective method for developing reversible zinc metal batteries.

文摘Studies on surface wettability have received tremendous interest due to their potential applications in research and industrial processes. Compared with the size of the structures, the aspect ratio of the void space between micro-and nanostructures has a strong impact on surface wettability.

文摘Changes in requirements may result in the increasing of product development project cost and lead time, therefore, it is important to understand how require- ment changes propagate in the design of complex product systems and be able to select best options to guide design. The proposed new design change model can be applied in a wide range of engineering systems design with improved efficiency.

文摘Bimetallic transition metal phosphides(TMPs)as potential candidates for superior electrochemical performance are still facing great challenges in the controllable preparation of two-dimensional(2 D)structures with high aspect ratio.Herein,a novel structure of quasi-monolayered NiCo-bimetal-phosphide(NiCoP)has been designed and successfully synthesized by the newly developed process combined with ultrasonic-cavitation and phase-transition.This is the first time to break through the controllable preparation of 2 D bimetal-phosphides with a thickness of 0.98 nm in sub-nanoscale.Based on the advantages of 2 D quasi-monolayer structure with dense crystalline-amorphous interface and the reconfigured electronic structure between Ni^(δ+)/Co^(δ+)and P^(δ-),the optimized Ni_(5%)CoP exhibits an outstanding bifunctional performance for electrocatalyzing both hydrogen evolution reaction and oxygen evolution reaction in an alkaline medium.Ni_(5%)CoP presents lower overpotentials and voltage of 84 mV&259 mV and1.48 V at the current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)for HER&DER and overall water splitting, respectively, which are superior to most other reported 2 D bimetal-phosphides.This work provides a new strategy to optimize the performance of electrolytic water for bimetal-phosphates and it may be of significant value in extending the design of other ultrathin 2 D structured catalysts.
