The effects of nano-CaO contents on the microstructure,mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of lean Mg-1Zn alloy were investigated.The results showed that the addition of nano-CaO significantly refined the grain size and improved mechanical properties of the Mg-1Zn alloy.At the same time,CaO reacted with molten Mg in situ to form nano-MgO,whose corrosion product in SBF solution was the same with the degradation product of Mg matrix,resulting in the enhanced compactness of the Mg(OH)_(2) layer and reduced corrosion rate of matrix.The Mg-1Zn alloy had lower corrosion resistance due to excessively large grain size and shedding of corrosion products.The composite with 0.5 wt.%CaO had the best corrosion resistance with a weight loss of 9.875 mg·y^(-1)·mm^(-2)due to the small number of Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) phase and suitable grain size.While for composites with high content of CaO(0.7 wt.%and 1.0 wt.%),they had lower corrosion resistance due to the coexistence of large number of Ca_(2)Mg_(6)Zn_(3) and Mg_(2)Ca at grain boundaries,especially for 1.0 wt.%CaO composite,resulting from the strong micro-galvanic corrosion. 展开更多

We chose pentacene as a hole injection layer(HIL) to fabricate the high performance blue fluorescent organic lightemitting devices(OLEDs). We found that the carrier mobility of the pentacene thin films could be efficiently improved after a critical annealing at temperature 120℃. Then we performed the tests of scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and Kelvin probe to explore the effect of annealing on the pentacene films. The pentacene film exhibited a more crystalline form with better continuities and smoothness after annealing. The optimal device with 120℃ annealed pentacene film and n-doped electron transport layer(ETL) presents a low turn-on voltage of 2.6 V and a highest luminance of 134800 cd/m^2 at 12 V, which are reduced by 26% and improved by 50% compared with those of the control device. 展开更多

The well crystalline YAG:Ce^3+ phosphor was synthesized by sold-state method, and the temperature dependence of excitation and emission spectra of YAG:Ce^3+ phosphor were investigated in the temperature range from room temperature to 573 K. With temperature increasing, it was noted that the emission intensity of as-repared phosphors decreased considerably more rapidly when pumped by 460 nm than by 340 nm. The temperature-intensity curves under different excitation wavelengths were obtained using an Arrhenius function, and the corresponding activation energies were also obtained respectively. Thus, the experimental phenomenon was discussed in terms of nonradiative decay rate. The effects of as-prepared phosphors on the performance of the white LED with changing temperature were also studied. 展开更多

The precursor of SrAl2O4:Th^3+ phosphor was prepared via a combustion process, and then the as-prepared powder was heated in a reductive ambient of activated carbon at 1250 ℃ for 1 h. The results of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and photoluminescence spectra revealed the influence of the dosage of urea and heated process on the crystallinity, morphology, and photoluminescence of the phosphor. Comparing with traditional solid-sate reaction, the crystallinity and emission intensity of the SrAl2O4:Tb^3+ phosphor were improved by this two-step process. 展开更多

The efficiency of organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) based on N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-N,N'-diphenyl-N,1'- biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (NPB) (the hole transport layer) and tris(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3) (both emission and electron transport layers) is improved remarkably by inserting a LiF interlayer into the hole transport layer. This thin LiF interlayer can effectively influence electrical performance and significantly improve the current efficiency of the device. A device with an optimum LiF layer thickness at the optimum position in NPB exhibits a maximum current efficiency of 5.96 cd/A at 215.79 mA/cm2, which is about 86% higher than that of an ordinary device (without a LiF interlayer, 3.2 cd/A). An explanation can be put forward that LiF in the NPB layer can block holes and balance the recombination of holes and electrons. The results may provide some valuable references for improving OLED current efficiency. 展开更多

The effects of annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties of ZnO films grown on Si (100) substrates by sol-gel spin-coating are investigated. The structural and optical properties are characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and photoluminescence spectra. X-ray diffraction analysis shows the crystal quality of ZnO films becomes better after annealing at high temperature. The grain size increases with the temperature increasing. It is found that the tensile stress in the plane of ZnO films first increases and then decreases with the annealing temperature increasing, reaching the maximum value of 1.8 GPa at 700℃. PL spectra of ZnO films annealed at various temperatures consists of a near band edge emission around 380 nm and visible emissions due to the electronic defects, which are related to deep level emissions, such as oxide antisite (OZn), interstitial oxygen (Oi), interstitial zinc (Zni) and zinc vacancy (VZn^-), which are generated during annealing process. The evolution of defects is analyzed by PL spectra based on the energy of the electronic transitions. 展开更多

Bandgap engineering by doping and co‐catalyst loading are two primary approaches to designing efficient photocatalysts by promoting visible‐light absorption and charge separation,respectively.Shifting of the TiO2conduction band edge is frequently applied to increase visible‐light absorption but also lowers the reductive properties of photo‐excited electrons.Herein,we report a visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst based on valance band edge control induced by oxygen excess defects and modification with a CuxO electron transfer co‐catalyst.The CuxO grafted oxygen‐rich TiO2microspheres were prepared by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis of the peroxotitanate precursor followed by a wet chemical impregnated treatment.We found that oxygen excess defects in TiO2shifted the valence band maximum upward and improved the visible‐light absorption.The CuxO grafted onto the surface acted as a co‐catalyst that efficiently reduced oxygen molecules to active intermediates(i.e.,O2??radial and H2O2),thus consuming the photo‐generated electrons.Consequently,the CuxO grafted oxygen‐rich TiO2microspheres achieved a photocatalytic activity respectively8.6,13.0and11.0as times high as those of oxygen‐rich TiO2,normal TiO2and CuxO grafted TiO2,for degradation of gaseous acetaldehyde under visible‐light irradiation.Our results suggest that high visible‐light photocatalytic efficiency can be achieved by combining oxygen excess defects to improve visible‐light absorption together with a CuxO electron transfer co‐catalyst.These findings provide a new approach to developing efficient heterojunction photocatalysts. 展开更多

The branching ratios of ions and the angular distributions of electrons ejected from the Eu 4f^76p_(1/2)nd auto-ionizing states are investigated with the velocity-map-imaging technique.To populate the above auto-ionizing states,the relevant bound Rydberg states have to be detected first.Two new bound Rydberg states are identified in the region between41150 cm^(-1)and 44580 cm^(-1),from which auto-ionization spectra of the Eu 4f^76p_(1/2)nd states are observed with isolated core excitation method.With all preparations above,the branching ratios from the above auto-ionizing states to different final ionic states and the angular distributions of electrons ejected from these processes are measured systematically.Energy dependence of branching ratios and anisotropy parameters within the auto-ionization spectra are carefully analyzed,followed by a qualitative interpretation. 展开更多

To improve the performance of tandem organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we study the novel NaCl as n-type dopant in Bphen:NaCl layer. By analyzing their relevant energy levels and cartier transporting characteristics, we discuss the mechanisms of the effective charge generation layer (CGL) of Bphen:NaCl (6 wt%)/MoO3. In addition, we use the Bphen:NaC1 (20 wt%) layer as the electron injection layer (ELL) combining the CGL to further improve the performance of tandem device. For this tandem device, the maximal current efficiency of 9.32 cd/A and the maximal power efficiency of 1.93 lm/W are obtained, which are enhanced approximately by 2.1 and 1.1 times compared with those of the single- emissive-unit device respectively. We attribute this improvement to the increase of electron injection ability by introducing of Bphen:NaCl layer. Moreover, the CGL is almost completely transparent in the visible light region, which is also important to achieve an efficient tandem OLEDs. 展开更多

Giant reversible magnetocaloric effects and magnetic properties in Euo.9Ro.lTiO3 (R = La, Ce) are investigated. The antiferromagnetic ordering of pure EuTiO3 can significantly change to be ferromagnetic as substitution of La (x = 0.1) and Ce (x = 0.1) ions for Eu2+ ions. The values of -ASM and RC are evaluated to be 10.8 J/(kg.K) and 51.8 J/kg for Euo.gCeo.lTiO3 and 11 J/(kg.K) and 39.3 J/kg for Euo.9Lao.lTiO3 at a magnetic field change of I0 kOe, respectively. The large low-field enhancements of --ASM and RC can be attributed to magnetic phase transition. The giant reversible MCE and large RC suggest that Euo.9Ro.ITiO3 (R = La, Ce) compounds could be promising materials in low temperature and low magnetic field refrigerants. 展开更多

Performance and Stability of Polymer Solar Cells Based on the Blends of Poly(3-Hexylthiophene) and Indene-C_(60) Bis-Adduct

The performance and morphology stability of polymer bulk heterojunetion solar cells based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) as the donor and indene-C6o bisadduct (ICBA) or methanofullerene [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as the aeceptor are compared. Effect of the different donor and aeeeptor weight ratios on photo- voltaic performance of the P3HT:ICBA device is studied. The optimal device achieved power conversion emeiency of 5.51~o with dso of l0.86mA/cm2, Voc of 0.83 V, and fill factor (FF) of 61.1 % under AM 1.5G (lOOmW/cm2) simulated solar illumination. However, the stability measurement shows that cells based on P3HT:ICBA are less stable than those of the device based on P3HT:PCBM. Atomic force microscope results reveal that the morphol- ogy of the P3HT:ICBA film changed considerably during the storage periods due to unstable interpenetrating D-A network. This observation can be explained by the fact that there is lack of intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the P3HT:ICBA system. However, in the P3HT:PCBM system the molecules in the blend film are firmly held together in the solid state by means of intermoleeular hydrogen bonds originating from C-H. ~. Os bonds (where Os comes from the singly-bonded 0 atom of PCBM), forming a stable three-dimensional network. The measured PL decay lifetimes for P3HT:PCBM and P3HT:ICBA systems are 33.66 ns and 35.34 ns, respectively, indicating that the P3HT:ICBA system has a less efficient exciton separation eftleiency than that of P3HT:PCBM, which may result in the interracial photogenerated charges accumulated on the D: A interface. Such progressive phase segregation between P3HT and ICBA eventually leads to the degradation in performance and deteriorates the stability of the device. We also present an approach to enhance the stability of P3HT:ICBA systems by adding PCBM as the second acceptor. Our results show that by carefully tuning the contents of PCBM as the second acceptor, more stable polymer solar cells can be obtained. 展开更多

A novel photovoltaic cell with an active layer of poly(phenyleneethynylene) (PPE)/C60/N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-di-(m-tolyl)-p-benzidine (TPD) is designed. In the active layer, PPE is the major component; C60 and TPD are the minor ones. Compared with a control BHJ device based on PPE/C60, the short circuit current density Jsc is increased by 1 order of magnitude, and the whole device performance is increased greatly, however the open circuit voltage Voc is largely decreased. The possible mechanism of the improved performance may be as follows: In the PPE/C60/TPD device, PPE, C60, and TPD serve as the energy harvesting material, the electron transport material, and the hole transport material, respectively. As the TPD and C60 are spatially separated by PPE, the charge recombination is effectively retarded. 展开更多

For the first... We investigate the electron injection effect of inserting a thin aluminum(Al) layer into cesium carbonate(Cs2CO3)injection layer. Two groups of organic light-emitting devices(OLEDs) are fabricated. For the first group of devices based on Alq3, we insert a thin Al layer of different thickness into Cs2CO3 injection layer, and the device's maximum current efficiency of 6.5 cd/A is obtained when the thickness of the thin Al layer is 0.4 nm. However, when the thickness of Al layer is 0.8 nm, the capacity of electron injection is the strongest. To validate the universality of this approach, then we fabricate another group of devices based on another blue emitting material. The maximum current efficiency of the device without and with a thin Al layer is 4.51 cd/A and 4.84 cd/A, respectively. Inserting a thin Al layer of an appropriate thickness into Cs2CO3 layer can result in the reduction of electron injection barrier, enhancement of the electron injection, and improvement of the performance of OLEDs. This can be attributed to the mechanism that thermally evaporated Cs2CO3 decomposes into cesium oxides, the thin Al layer reacts with cesium oxides to form Al–O–Cs complex, and the amount of the Al–O–Cs complex can be controlled by adjusting the thickness of the thin Al layer. 展开更多

X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that Fe^3+ ions are incorporated into the TiO2 lattice. No ferromagnetism-related secondary phases and magnetic nanopaxticles are observed in the films. The presence of electron paramagnetic resonance signals at 9- 2.0 supports oxygen vacancies and/or defects generated in the films after annealing in vacuum. Magnetic measurements indicate that Fe-doped anatase TiO2 films are ferromagnetic at room temperature. These observations suggest that oxygen vacancies and/or defects axe energetically favorable for the long range Fe^3+-Fe^3+ ferromagnetic coupling in Fe-doped anatase TiO2 films. 展开更多

A series of Al3+-doped 3.5MgO·0.5MgF2·GeO2:Mn4+red-emitting phosphors is synthesized by high temperature solid-state reaction. The broad excitation band at 300 nm–380 nm, resulting from the4A2→4T1transition of Mn4+,exhibits a blue shift with the increase of Al2O3 content. The observation of the decreased Mn4+–O2-distance is explained by the crystal field theory. The temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectra with various amounts of Al2O3 content are comparatively measured and the calculation shows that the activation energy increases up to 0.41 eV at the Al2O3 content of 0.1 mol. The maximum phonon densities of state for these samples are calculated from Raman spectra and they are correlated with the thermal properties. 展开更多

The injection and transport characteristics of electrons are enhanced by using sodium chloride (NaC1) as an n-type dopant doped into a 4, 7-diphnenyl-1, lO-phe-nanthroline (Bphen) electron-transporting layer, which improves the performance of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Meanwhile, a NaCl-doped Bphen layer can effectively influence electrical characteristics of the devices, and significantly improve the current and power efficiency. The turn-on voltage and the operation voltage of the optimal device are decreased drastically from 6.5 V and 10.8 V to 3.3 V and 5 V, respectively, compared with those of the reference device. The maximum current efficiency and power efficiency of the optimal device are 7.0 cd/A and 4.4 Im/W at the current density of 16.70 mA/cm~, which are about I. 7 and 4 times higher than those of the reference device, respectively. Moreover, the enhancement of the injection and transport ability for electrons is attributed not only to the reduced energy barrier between A1 cathode and Bphen, but also to the increased mobility of electrons by the doping effect of NaCl. Therefore, both the electron injection and transport ability are enhanced, which improve the carrier balance in OLEDs and lead to the better device efficiency. 展开更多

We report the temperature-dependent resistivity and dielectric function (1 kHz- 3 MHz) of a charge ordering system La1.5Sr0.5NiO4-δ. The primary data of ac impedance was measured by a four-terminal pair arrangement. Above 180K, the resistivity is independent of frequency. At lower temperatures, the dielectric function couM not be fitted by a Debye model with a single relaxation time, it should have a distribution. At T = 130 K, there is a sudden increase in the p - T relation, meanwhile an anomaly dielectric response occurs on the temperature dependant dielectric spectrum in the whole measured frequency range, in which the dielectric constant has a high value even at high frequency region. Our analysis suggests that the current system would be more consistent with the Zener polaron model. 展开更多

Cu and Al are selected as the cathode and the anode, respectively. C60 is used as the organic layer and LiF as the buffer layer inserted between the cathode and C60. After the annealing process, Schottky contact is well formed at the Al/C60 interface and Ohmic contact is formed at the (Cu/LiF)/C60 interface. The current density-voltage (J-V) measurements of the diodes present nonlinear behavior. As a result, the rectification ratio reaches 1×03. The characteristics of the diodes have been analyzed using the energy band diagram. The values of Schottky barrier height ΦB, ideality factor n and reverse saturation current density Js are extracted according to the standard thermionic emission model. 展开更多

Isolated-core-excitation (ICE) scheme and autoionization detection are employed to study the bound Rydberg states of europium atom. The high-lying states with odd parity have been measured using the autoionization detection method with three different excitation paths via 4f76s6p[8Ph/2], 4f76s6p[8P7/2] and 4f76s6p[SP9/2] intermediate states, respectively. In this paper the spectra of bound Rydberg states of Eu atom are reported, which cover the energy regions from 36000 cm-1 to 38250 cm-1 and from 38900 cm-1 to 39500 cm-1. The study provides the information about level energy, the possible J values and relative line intensity as well as the effective principal quantum number n* for these states. This work not only confirms the previous results of many states, but also discovers 11 new Rydberg states of Eu atom. 展开更多

The combination of a velocity mapping imaging technique and mathematical transformation is adopted to study the angular distribution of electrons ejected from the Eu 4f76p1/26 d autoionizing states, which are excited with a three-step excitation scheme via different Eu 4f76s6d8 D J(J = 5/2, 7/2, and 9/2) intermediate states. In order to determine the energy dependence of angular distribution of the ejected electrons, the anisotropic parameters are measured in the spectral profile of the 6p1/26 d autoionizing states by tuning the wavelength of the third-step laser across the ionic resonance lines of the Eu 6s+→ 6p+. The configuration interaction is discussed by comparing the angular distributions of ejected electrons from the different states. The present study reveals the profound variations of anisotropic parameters in the entire region of autoionization resonance, highlighting the complicated nature of the autoionization process for the lowest member of6p1/26 d autoionization series. 展开更多
