The self-similar nonlinear ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by the shooting: method. It is found that the dual solutions of the flow exist for cer- tain values of tile velocity ratio parameter. The special case of the first branch solutions (the classical Newtonian fluid model) is compared with the present numerical results of stretching flow. The results are found to be in good agreement. It is also shown that the boundary layer thickness for the second solution is thicker than that for the first solution.展开更多

The enzyme was purified 123.69 fold with a yield of 21.37% by ammonium sulphate fractionation, PEG-4000 precipitation, CM cellulose column chromatography and DEAE cellulose column chromatography. The catalytically active enzyme is a dimer of 113 KDa with a subunit molecular weight of 55 KDa. Thermal inactivation of enzyme follows first order kinetics at 30°C and 40°C with half life of 6 and 1.5 min respectively. Km value for glucose-6-phosphate and NADP+ was found to be 2.68 mM and 0.75 mM respectively whereas Vmax value was found to be 0.11 U/mL and 0.13 U/mL respectively. The enzyme shows more affinity towards NADP+ than glucose-6-phosphate. The pKa value was found to be 10.41 indicating that the amino acid residue at active site might be lysine. The enzyme exhibited maximum catalytic activity at pH 8.2. The enzyme was found to be highly thermosensitive with gradual loss of activity above 30°C temperature.展开更多

The two-dimensional laminar, steady, incompressible flow past a flat plate subject to convective surface boundary condition, slip velocity in the presence of radiation has been studied where the magnetic field is applied in the transverse direction to the plate. Two different kinds of magnetic nanoparticles, magnetite Fe3O4 and cobalt ferrite CoFe2O4 are amalgamated within the base fluids water and kerosene. The effects of various physical aspects such as magnetic field, volume fraction, radiation and slip conditions on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are presented graphically and discussed. The effect of various dimensionless parameters on the skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate are also tabulated. To investigate this particular problem, numerical computations are done using the implicit finite difference method based Keller-Box Method.展开更多

These functions are used to derive the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth semi-infinite minmax programming problems, where set of restrictions are indexed in a compact set. Utilizing the sufficient optimality conditions, the authors formulate three types of dual models and establish weak and strong duality results. The results of the paper extend and unify naturally some earlier results from the literature.展开更多
