The mathematical formulas proved to be very complicated, and various trials were published between the 1900s and 2000s. The development of indentation instruments and the wish to make the application in numerous steps easier, led in 1992 to trials with iterations by using relative values instead of absolute ones. Excessive iterations of computers with 3 + 8 free parameters of the loading and unloading curves became possible and were implemented into the instruments and worldwide standards. The physical formula for hardness was defined as force over area. For the conical, pyramidal, and spherical indenters, one simply took the projected area for the calculation of the indentation depth from the projected area, adjusted it later by the iterations with respect to fused quartz or aluminium as standard materials, and called it “contact height”. Continuously measured indentation loading curves were formulated as loading force over depth square. The unloading curves after release of the indenter used the initial steepness of the pressure relief for the calculation of what was (and is) incorrectly called “Young’s modulus”. But it is not unidirectional. And for the spherical indentations’ loading curve, they defined the indentation force over depth raised to 3/2 (but without R/h correction). They till now (2025) violate the energy law, because they use all applied force for the indenter depth and ignore the obvious sidewise force upon indentation (cf. e.g. the wood cleaving). The various refinements led to more and more complicated formulas that could not be reasonably calculated with them. One decided to use 3 + 8 free-parameter iterations for fitting to the (poor) standards of fused quartz or aluminium. The mechanical values of these were considered to be “true”. This is till now the worldwide standard of DIN-ISO-ASTM-14577, avoiding overcomplicated formulas with their complexity. Some of these are shown in the Introduction Section. By doing so, one avoided the understanding of indentation results on a physical basis. However, we open a simple way to obtain absolute values (though still on the blackbox instrument’s unsuitable force calibration). We do not iterate but calculate algebraically on the basis of the correct, physically deduced exponent of the loading force parabolas with h3/2 instead of false “h2” (for the spherical indentation, there is a calotte-radius over depth correction), and we reveal the physical errors taken up in the official worldwide “14577-Standard”. Importantly, we reveal the hitherto fully overlooked phase transitions under load that are not detectable with the false exponent. Phase-transition twinning is even present and falsifies the iteration standards. Instead of elasticity theory, we use the well-defined geometry of these indentations. By doing so, we reach simple algebraically calculable formulas and find the physical indentation hardness of materials with their onset depth, onset force and energy, as well as their phase-transition energy (temperature dependent also its activation energy). The most important phase transitions are our absolute algebraically calculated results. The now most easily obtained phase transitions under load are very dangerous because they produce polymorph interfaces between the changed and the unchanged material. It was found and published by high-enlargement microscopy (5000-fold) that these trouble spots are the sites for the development of stable, 1 to 2 µm long, micro-cracks (stable for months). If however, a force higher than the one of their formation occurs to them, these grow to catastrophic crash. That works equally with turbulences at the pickle fork of airliners. After the publication of these facts and after three fatal crashing had occurred in a short sequence, FAA (Federal Aviation Agency) reacted by rechecking all airplanes for such micro cracks. These were now found in a new fleet of airliners from where the three crashed ones came. These were previously overlooked. FAA became aware of that risk and grounded 290 (certainly all) of them, because the material of these did not have higher phase-transition onset and energy than other airplanes with better material. They did so despite the 14577-Standard that does not find (and thus formally forbids) phase transitions under indenter load with the false exponent on the indentation parabola. However, this “Standard” will, despite the present author’s well-founded petition, not be corrected for the next 5 years.展开更多

To mitigate this pollution, two clays named Koro and Kaya were collected in Burkina Faso and characterized using analytical technics. This work aimed to find out a cheap technology based on local soils for water treatment. The objective of the work was to prepare and characterize two local clays for application in mining effluent treatment. Specific surface area and pore dimensions were analyzed using Brunauer, Emmett and Teller method. In addition, anion exchange capacities, chemical composition through X-ray fluorescence and chemical functions by Fourier-transformed Infrared spectroscopy were determined. Mineralogical composition, thermal behavior, microstructure, and surface elemental composition of clays were examined using techniques of X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy. Results showed that the surface areas of two anionic clays were 64 m2/g and 50 m2/g for Koro and Kaya, respectively. An anion exchange capacity of 126.68 cmol/kg for Koro and 125.13 cmol/kg at pH 11 was found. Chemical and mineralogical analysis showed that the clays were rich in minerals, mainly of illite (24 - 27)%, montmorillonite (23 - 24)% and kaolinite (17 - 26)%, orthosis (9 - 13)%, quartz (5 - 12)%, goethite (3 - 6)% and anorthite (2 - 6)%. Application of clays for the treatment of cyanide solution led to a decrease in intensities of chemical functions and a modification of the surface morphology. Consequently, those clay soils can be used as adsorbents in cyanide removal through column and batch experiments.展开更多

In addition, oxidation reactions carried out on lupeol (1) yielded two semi-synthetic compounds, including a previously unreported: (20R)-formyloxy-29-nor-lupan-3-one (1b) and one other well-known Lupenone (1a). The structures of natural and semi-synthetic compounds were determined by analysis of 1D-(1H, 13C), 2D-(COSY, HSQC and HMBC) NMR data in conjunction with mass spectrometry (TOFESIMS and HR-TOFESIMS) and by comparison with the reported data. The evaluation of antimicrobial activities of substrate (1) as well as semi-synthetic derivatives (1a and 1b) using broth microdilution method showed that compound 1b was the most active (16 ≤ MIC ≤ 32 μg/mL) against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans compared to the starting material 1 (16 ≤ MIC ≤ 64 μg/mL) and derivative 1a (32 ≤ MIC ≤ 64 μg/mL).展开更多

In MC, sulphate levels were greater than nitrate levels, and NH4 had mixed sources (vehicular emissions and agriculture activities). MAM had markedly alkaline atmospheric deposition, Na+ and Cl-levels were unexpectedly high, especially during hurricane “Alex”. Low pH values were found in ECNP and nitrate concentrations were high, suggesting the influence of a local source (forest fires). Deposition fluxes (Kg.ha-1yr-1) for N-NO3, N-NH4 and S-SO4 were 1.36, 2.74 and 4.84 for MAM;7.27, 0.57 and 4.32 for ECNP;and 5.97, 4.96 and 6.78 for MC, respectively. Nitrogen deposition fluxes in ECNP were high considering that this site is a natural reserve.展开更多

The effect of concentration, particle size and stirring speed reaction is examined. Thermochimique properties of each kinetic parameters reaction are determined. It was found that these parameters have a considerable effect on the thermochemical aspect of the attack reaction. It is known that the process of PN sulphophosphoric acid attack leads to the formation of dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O: DH). The present work shows the precipitation of other residues their formula depends on factors studied. The increase in concentration leads to the formation of hemihydrate (CaSO4v1/2H2O:HH) beside DH for the low values of% H2SO4 due to the solubility of dihydrate on the etching solution and the precipitation of (Ca (H2PO4)2.2H2O) next of DH for low agitation values because of the lack of turbulence between the liquid phase and the solid phase which favors the precipitation of this latter compound.展开更多

The mathematical formulas proved to be very complicated, and various trials were published between the 1900s and 2000s. The development of indentation instruments and the wish to make the application in numerous steps easier, led in 1992 to trials with iterations by using relative values instead of absolute ones. However, this “Standard” will, despite the present author’s well-founded petition, not be corrected for the next 5 years.
文摘In Burkina Faso, water resources in mining areas are polluted by cyanide, which is released into the environment through mining activities. Consequently, those clay soils can be used as adsorbents in cyanide removal through column and batch experiments.
文摘From the ethyl acetate extract of the medicinal plant Graptophyllum glandulosum Turrill, five known compounds: Lupeol (1), Oleanolic acid (2), Chrysoeriol (3), N-methyl-isonicotinamide (4) and β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5) were isolated. The evaluation of antimicrobial activities of substrate (1) as well as semi-synthetic derivatives (1a and 1b) using broth microdilution method showed that compound 1b was the most active (16 ≤ MIC ≤ 32 μg/mL) against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans compared to the starting material 1 (16 ≤ MIC ≤ 64 μg/mL) and derivative 1a (32 ≤ MIC ≤ 64 μg/mL).
文摘Wet deposition was collected in Mexico City (MC), Metropolitan Area of Monterrey (MAM) and El Chico National Park (ECNP), during 2009 and 2010. pH, conductivity, Cl-, , Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ were determined. Nitrogen deposition fluxes in ECNP were high considering that this site is a natural reserve.

文摘Considering the frequent use of netupitant in polytherapy, the elucidation of its oxidative metabolization pattern is of major importance. However, there is a lack of published research on the redox behavior of this novel neurokinin-1 receptor antagonist. Therefore, this study was performed to simulate the intensive hepatic biotransformation of netupitant using an electrochemically driven method. Most of the known enzyme-mediated reactions occurring in the liver(i.e.,N-dealkylation,hydroxylation,and Noxidation)were successfully mimicked by the electrolytic cell using a boron-doped diamond working electrode. The products were separated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and identified by high-resolution mass spectrometry.Aside from its ability to pinpoint formerly unknown metabolites that could be responsible for the known side effects of netupitant or connected with any new perspective concerning future therapeutic indications, this electrochemical process also represents a facile alternative for the synthesis of oxidation products for further in vitro and in vivo studies.
文摘The ternary solid complex was synthesized with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (NaEt_2dtc), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and low hydrated dysprosium chloride in absolute ethanol by improved method of reference. The title complex was identified as the general formula of Dy(Et_2dtc)_3(phen) by chemical and elemental analyses. IR spectrum of the complex shows that the Dy^(3+) coordinated with six sulfur atoms of three NaEt_2dtc and two nitrogen atoms of phen. It is assumed that the coordination number of Dy^(3+) is eight. The enthalpy change of liquid-phase reaction of formation, Δ_rH~θ_m(l), is determined as (-19.091±0.015) kJ·mol^(-1) at 298.15 K by a microcalorimeter, and the enthalpy change of the solid-phase reaction of formation, Δ_rH~θ_m(s), is calculated as (139.641±0.482) kJ·mol^(-1) on the basis of a thermochemical cycle. The thermodynamic of reaction of formation was studied by changing the temperature of liquid-phase reaction. The constant-volume combustion energy of the complex, Δ_cU, is determined as (-16730.21±9.25) kJ·mol^(-1) by a precise rotating-bomb calorimeter at 298.15 K. Its standard enthalpies of combustion, Δ_cH~θ_m, and standard enthalpies of formation, Δ_fH~θ_m, are calculated as (-16749.42±9.25) kJ·mol^(-1) and (-2019.68±10.19) kJ·mol^(-1), respectively.
文摘Rice is a grass seed from Oryza glaberrima species also known as the African rice.In Kenya, rice is mostly grown in Central(Mwea)and Nyanza(Ahero,West Kano,Migori and Kuria)areas.Milling rice produces rice husks as by-products which can be sources of valuable chemical products(silica gel, sodium silicate). In trials to produce silica gel from rice husks, rice husks were charred in a combustion chamber(30 min)then ashed in a Muffle furnace(Advantec KL-420)at different temperatures. The ashes were then leached with distilled water/acids to remove metal oxides.Sixty grams(60 g)of the leached RHA(Rice Husk Ash)was mixed with 300 mL of 3 M NaOH solution in a Pyrex 500 mL beaker and boiled at 100℃(1 h).The silica gel samples were characterized using several methods.Elemental analysis was done using TXRF(Total X-Ray Fluorescence),while FTIR(Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)was used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption of the silica sample. Results of the analysis conform to local and international quality standards. The rice husks had an average moisture content of 7.07%and 1.00-2.00 mm diameter. And 1.74%of the rice husk had pore sizes of about 0.710 mm.The average ash content was 22.65%.At 600℃,leaching with water yielded 98.2%silica compared with 99.1%(H2SO4)and 96.9%(HCl).At 500℃,leaching with HCl/H2SO4 causes a decrease. At 500℃,the availability of SiO2 is more for water leached samples. At 400℃,water leaching gave 98.49%silica while HCl leaching was 97.85%silica and H2SO4 was 99.41%.Silica is a precursor of silica gel.Statistical analyses imply water leaching RHA instead of acid leaching at 500℃ will produce a significant amount of silica gel.The open burn samples produced equal or better SiO2(silica gel precursor)yields compared with the incineration samples.FTIR analysis of the silica gel sample compared well with adsorption peaks of silica gel in literature.XRD(X-Ray Diffraction)analysis produced a pattern consistent with other XRD patterns of silica gel published by other researchers.
文摘Mixture of phosphoric and sulfuric acid solutions has been used to investigate the dissolution of natural phosphates (PN) by DRC. The increase in concentration leads to the formation of hemihydrate (CaSO4v1/2H2O:HH) beside DH for the low values of% H2SO4 due to the solubility of dihydrate on the etching solution and the precipitation of (Ca (H2PO4)2.2H2O) next of DH for low agitation values because of the lack of turbulence between the liquid phase and the solid phase which favors the precipitation of this latter compound.

文摘Economical water electrolysis requires highly active non-noble electrocatalysts to overcome the sluggish kinetics of the two half-cell reactions, oxygen evolution reaction, and hydrogen evolution reaction.Although intensive efforts have been committed to achieve a hydrogen economy, the expensive noble metal-based catalysts remain under consideration. Therefore, the engineering of self-supported electrocatalysts prepared using a direct growth strategy on three-dimensional(3D)nickel foam(NF)as a conductive substrate has garnered significant interest. This is due to the large active surface area and 3D porous network offered by these electrocatalysts, which can enhance the synergistic eff ect between the catalyst and the substrate,as well as improve electrocatalytic performance.Hydrothermal-assisted growth, microwave heating, electrodeposition, and other physical methods(i.e.,chemical vapor deposition and plasma treatment)have been applied to NF to fabricate competitive electrocatalysts with low overpotential and high stability. In this review, recent advancements in the development of self-supported electrocatalysts on 3D NF are described. Finally,we provide future perspectives of self-supported electrode platforms in electrochemical water splitting.

文摘Systematic optimization of the photocatalyst and investigation of the role of each component is important to maximizing catalytic activity and comprehending the photocatalytic conversion of CO_(2) reduction to solar fuels.A surface-modified Ag@Ru-P25 photocatalyst with H_(2)O_(2) treatment was designed in this study to convert CO_(2) and H_(2)O vapor into highly selective CH4.Ru doping followed by Ag nanoparticles(NPs)cocatalyst deposition on P25(TiO_(2))enhances visible light absorption and charge separation, whereas H_(2)O_(2) treatment modifies the surface of the photocatalyst with hydroxyl(–OH)groups and promotes CO_(2) adsorption.High-resonance transmission electron microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray absorption near-edge structure, and extended X-ray absorption fine structure techniques were used to analyze the surface and chemical composition of the photocatalyst, while thermogravimetric analysis,CO_(2) adsorption isotherm, and temperature programmed desorption study were performed to examine the significance of H_(2)O_(2) treatment in increasing CO_(2) reduction activity. The optimized Ag1.0@Ru1.0-P25 photocatalyst performed excellent CO_(2) reduction activity into CO,CH4,and C2H6 with a~95%selectivity of CH4,where the activity was~135 times higher than that of pristine TiO_(2)(P25).For the first time, this work explored the effect of H_(2)O_(2) treatment on the photocatalyst that dramatically increases CO_(2) reduction activity.

文摘This work focuses on the development of high temperature polymer electrolyte membranes(HT-PEMs)as key materials for HT-PEM fuel cells(HT-PEMFCs).Recognizing the challenges associated with the phosphoric acid(PA) doped polybenzimidazole(PBI) membranes, including the use of carcinogenic monomers and complex synthesis procedures, this study aims to develop more cost-effective,readily synthesized, and high-performance alternatives.A series of superacid-catalyzed polyhydroxyalkylation reactions have been carefully designed between p-terphenyl and aldehydes bearing imidazole moieties, resulting in a new class of HT-PEMs.It is found that the chemical structure of aldehyde-substituted N-heterocycles significantly impacts the polymerization reaction.Specifically, the use of 1-methyl-2-imidazole-formaldehyde and 1 H-imidazole-4-formaldehyde monomers leads to the formation of high-viscosity,rigid,and ether-free polymers, denoted as PTIm-a and PTIm-b.Membranes fabricated from these polymers, due to their pendent imidazole groups, exhibit an exceptional capacity for PA absorption.Notably,PTIm-a,carrying methylimidazole moieties, demonstrates a superior chemical stability by maintaining morphology and structural stability during 350 h of Fenton testing. After being immersed in 75 wt% PA at 40℃,the PTIm-a membrane reaches a PA content of 152%,maintains a good tensile strength of 13.6 MPa,and exhibits a moderate conductivity of 50.2 mS cm^(-1) at 180℃.Under H_(2)/O_(2) operational conditions,a single cell based on the PTIm-a membrane attains a peak power density of 732 mW cm^(-2) at 180℃ without backpressure.Furthermore, the membrane demonstrates stable cycle stability over 173 h within 18 days at a current density of 200 mA cm^(-2),indicating its potential for practical application in HT-PEMFCs.This work highlights innovative strategies for the synthesis of advanced HT-PEMs,offering significant improvements in membrane properties and fuel cell performance, thus expanding the horizons of HT-PEMFC technology.

文摘With plenty of popular and effective ternary organic solar cells(OSCs)construction strategies proposed and applied, its power conversion efficiencies(PCEs)have come to a new level of over 19%in single-junction devices. However, previous studies are heavily based in chloroform(CF)leaving behind substantial knowledge deficiencies in understanding the influence of solvent choice when introducing a third component.Herein,we present a case where a newly designed asymmetric small molecular acceptor using fluoro-methoxylated end-group modification strategy, named BTP-BO-3FO with enlarged bandgap, brings different morphological evolution and performance improvement effect on host system PM6:BTP-eC9,processed by CF and ortho-xylene(o-XY).With detailed analyses supported by a series of experiments, the best PCE of 19.24%for green solvent-processed OSCs is found to be a fruit of finely tuned crystalline ordering and general aggregation motif, which furthermore nourishes a favorable charge generation and recombination behavior.Likewise, over 19%PCE can be achieved by replacing spin-coating with blade coating for active layer deposition. This work focuses on understanding the commonly met yet frequently ignored issues when building ternary blends to demonstrate cutting-edge device performance, hence, will be instructive to other ternary OSC works in the future.

文摘Activated carbon preparation from sugarcane leaves and rice straw by carbonization(250℃–400℃)and activation at 500℃were studied. The effects of pre-oxidation,hydrolysis of derived charcoals by boiled KMnO4 aqueous solution were evaluated. The derived charcoals products were pretreated using oxidation-hydrolysis with 1–5 wt.%KMnO4 at 100℃and then activated at 500℃.The derived charcoal and activated carbon products were characterized by FTIR,XRD,SEM-EDS and BET.Iodine number and methylene blue number of derived products were also used for the analysis of the products. It was found that fabricated charcoal materials made at 350℃–400℃possess good characteristics with low content of surface functional groups and high carbon content. After pre-oxidation-hydrolysis and activation at 500℃,the resulting derived activated carbon materials from charcoals with 400℃carbonization temperature have high content of oxygen containing surface functional groups such as Mn-O,Si-O,Si-O-Si,C-O,or O-H.In addition,MnO_(2) accumulated on the surface of the derived activated carbon products. The surface area and pore volume of the activated carbon products have also increased with increasing of KMnO_(4) concentration from 1 to 3 wt.%and then decreased with 5 wt.%used during activation. Therefore, activated carbon products made by pre-oxidation-hydrolysis with 3 wt.%KMnO_(4) were used for Fe(Ⅲ)adsorption experiments. It was found that Fe(Ⅲ)adsorption on the activated carbon materials can be fitted with both the Freundlich and the Langmuir models. The calculated maximum Fe(Ⅲ)adsorption capacities of sugarcane leaves derived activated carbon and rice straw derived activated carbon products were 50.00 and 39.37 mg/g,respectively.It was shown that the effect of pre-oxidation-hydrolysis by KMnO_(4) and activation at 500℃are beneficial for activated carbon preparation with environmentally friendly and low-cost simplified operation.

文摘The application of biofertilizers is becoming an inevitable trend to substitute chemical fertilizers for sustainable agriculture. To better understand the development of biofertilizers from 1980 to 2022,we used bibliometric mining to analyze 12,880 journal articles related to biofertilizer. The network cooccurrence analysis suggested that the biofertilizers research can be separated into three stages. The first stage(1980-2005)focused on nitrogen fixation. The second stage(2006-2015)concentrated on the mechanisms for increasing plant yield. The third stage(2016-2022)was the application of biofertilizers to improve the soil environment. The keyword analysis revealed the mechanisms of biofertilizers to improve plant-growth:biofertilizers can impact the nutritional status of plants, regulate plant hormones, and improve soil environments and the microbiome. The bacteria use as biofertilizers, included Pseudomonas,Azospirillum, and Bacillus, were also identified through bibliometric mining. These findings provide critical discernment to aid further study of biofertilizers for sustainable agriculture.

文摘The demand for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is driven largely by their use in electric vehicles, which is projected to increase dramatically in the future. This great success, however, urgently calls for the efficient recycling of LIBs at the end of their life.Herein,we describe a froth flotation-based process to recycle graphite—the predominant active material for the negative electrode—from spent LIBs and investigate its reuse in newly assembled LIBs.It has been found that the structure and morphology of the recycled graphite are essentially unchanged compared to pristine commercial anode-grade graphite, and despite some minor impurities from the recycling process, the recycled graphite provides a remarkable reversible specific capacity of more than 350 mAh g^(−1).Even more importantly, newly assembled graphite‖NMC532 cells show excellent cycling stability with a capacity retention of 80%after 1000 cycles, that is,comparable to the performance of reference full cells comprising pristine commercial graphite.

文摘Silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)synthesized using tartaric acid as a capping agent have a great impact on the reaction kinetics and contribute significantly to the stability of AgNPs.The protective layer formed by tartaric acid is an important factor that protects the silver surface and reduces potential cytotoxicity problems. These attributes are critical for assessing the compatibility of AgNPs with biological systems and making them suitable for drug delivery applications. The aim of this research is to conduct a comprehensive study of the effect of tartaric acid concentration, sonication time and temperature on the formation of silver nanoparticles.Using Response Surface Methodology(RSM)with Face-Centered Central Composite Design(FCCD),the optimization process identifies the most favorable synthesis conditions.UV-Vis spectrum regression analysis shows that AgNPs stabilized with tartaric acid are more stable than AgNPs without tartaric acid. This highlights the increased stability that tartaric acid provides in AgNP ssssynthesis.Particle size distribution analysis showed a multimodal distribution for AgNPs with tartaric acid and showed the smallest size peak with an average size of 20.53 nm.The second peak with increasing intensity shows a dominant average size of 108.8 nm accompanied by one standard deviation of 4.225 nm and a zeta potential of−11.08 mV.In contrast,AgNPs synthesized with polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)showed a unimodal particle distribution with an average particle size of 81.62 nm and a zeta potential of−2.96 mV.The more negative zeta potential of AgNP-tartaric acid indicates its increased stability.Evaluation of antibacterial activity showed that AgNPs stabilized with tartaric acid showed better performance against E.coli and B.subtilis bacteria compared with AgNPs-PVP.In summary, this study highlights the potential of tartaric acid in AgNP synthesis and suggests an avenue for the development of stable AgNPs with versatile applications.
