Supported ionic liquid(IL) catalysts [Cmim]PMoO/Am TiO(amorphous TiO) were synthesized through a one-step method for extraction coupled catalytic oxidative desulfurization(ECODS) system. Characterizations such as FTIR, DRS,wide-angle XRD, Nadsorption–desorption and XPS were applied to analyze the morphology and Keggin structure of the catalysts. In ECODS with hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant, it was found that ILs with longer alkyl chains in the cationic moiety had a better effect on the removal of dibenzothiophene. The desulfurization could reach 100% under optimal conditions, and GC–MS analysis was employed to detect the oxidized product after the reaction. Factors affecting the desulfurization efficiencies were discussed, and a possible mechanism was proposed. In addition, cyclic experiments were also conducted to investigate the recyclability of the supported catalyst. The catalytic activity of [Cmim]PMoO/Am TiOonly dropped from 100% to 92.9% after ten cycles, demonstrating the good recycling performance of the catalyst and its potential industrial application. 展开更多

Aqueous-phase reforming(APR)is an attractive process to produce bio-based hydrogen from waste biomass streams,during which the catalyst stability is often challenged due to the harsh reaction conditions.In this work,three Pt-based catalysts supported on C,AlO(OH),and ZrO_(2)were investigated for the APR of hydroxyacetone solution in afixed bed reactor at 225℃and 35 bar.Among them,the Pt/C catalyst showed the highest turnover frequency for H_(2)production(TOF of 8.9 molH_(2)molPt^(-1)min^(-1))and the longest catalyst stability.Over the AlO(OH)and ZrO_(2)supported Pt catalysts,the side reactions consuming H_(2),formation of coke,and Pt sintering result in a low H_(2)production and the fast catalyst deactivation.The proposed reaction pathways suggest that a promising APR catalyst should reform all oxygenates in the aqueous phase,minimize the hydrogenation of the oxygenates,maximize the WGS reaction,and inhibit the condensation and coking reactions for maximizing the hydrogen yield and a stable catalytic performance. 展开更多

Supported TiO2 catalysts on activated carbon were prepared by soak and sintering method. The aggregation of nano-TiO2 particles can be effectively suppressed by added polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a surface modifier. The average particle diameter of TiO2, specific surface area and absorbability of catalyst can be modified. Based on characteristics of the TiO2 photocatalyst with XRD, specific surface area, adsorption valves of methylene blue and the amount of TiO2 supported on the activated carbon, the photocatalytic degradation of L-acid was studied. The effect of the factors, such as pH of the solution, the initial concentration of L-acid on the photocatalytic degradation of L-acid, were studied also. It was found that when the pH of the solution is 1.95, the amount of photocatalyst is 0.5 g, the concentration of the L-acid solution is 1.34×10^3 mol/L and the illumination time is 7 h, the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of L-acid can reach 89,88%, The catalyst was reused 6 times and its degradation efficiency hardly changed. 展开更多

TiO_2 modified Al_2O_3 binary oxide was prepared by a wet-impregnation method and used as the support for ruthenium catalyst. The catalytic performance of Ru/TiO_2–Al_2O_3catalyst in CO_2 methanation reaction was investigated. Compared with Ru/Al_2O_3 catalyst, the Ru/TiO_2–Al_2O_3catalytic system exhibited a much higher activity in CO_2 methanation reaction. The reaction rate over Ru/TiO_2–Al_2O_3 was 0.59 mol CO_2·(g Ru)1·h-1, 3.1 times higher than that on Ru/Al_2O_3[0.19 mol CO_2·(gRu)-1·h-1]. The effect of TiO_2 content and TiO_2–Al_2O_3calcination temperature on catalytic performance was addressed. The corresponding structures of each catalyst were characterized by means of H_2-TPR, XRD, and TEM. Results indicated that the averaged particle size of the Ru on TiO_2–Al_2O_3support is 2.8 nm, smaller than that on Al_2O_3 support of 4.3 nm. Therefore, we conclude that the improved activity over Ru/TiO_2–Al_2O_3catalyst is originated from the smaller particle size of ruthenium resulting from a strong interaction between Ru and the rutile-TiO_2 support, which hindered the aggregation of Ru nanoparticles. 展开更多

A new supported amorphous catalyst CoP/TiO2 was prepared by chemical reduction and characterized by ICP, XRD, TEM, BET and DSC. Its application in decomposing PH3 to high purity phosphor and its catalytic activity were studied. The decomposition rate is over 95% at 450 ℃. For comparison, unsupported CoP amorphous catalyst was prepared by the same method. The result suggests that CoP/TiO2 exhibits higher thermal stability and catalytic activity than CoP, which is attributed to the high dispersion of CoP alloy particles on the support-TiO2. 展开更多

Exploring high-efficiency and broadband microwave absorption(MA)materials with corrosion resistance and low cost is ur-gently needed for wide practical applications.Herein,the natural porous attapulgite(ATP)nanorods embedded with TiO_(2)and polyaniline(PANI)nanoparticles are synthesized via heterogeneous precipitation and in-situ polymerization.The obtained PANI-TiO_(2)-ATP one-di-mensional(1D)nanostructures can intertwine into three-dimensional(3D)conductive network,which favors energy dissipation.The min-imum reflection loss(RL_(min))of the PANI-TiO_(2)-ATP coating(20wt%)reaches-49.36 dB at 9.53 GHz,and the effective absorption band-width(EAB)can reach 6.53 GHz with a thickness of 2.1 mm.The excellent MA properties are attributed to interfacial polarization,mul-tiple loss mechanisms,and good impedance matching induced by the synergistic effect of PANI-TiO_(2)nanoparticle shells and ATP nanor-ods.In addition,salt spray and Tafel polarization curve tests reveal that the PANI-TiO_(2)-ATP coating shows outstanding corrosion resist-ance performance.This study provides a low-cost and high-efficiency strategy for constructing 1D nanonetwork composites for MA and corrosion resistance applications using natural porous ATP nanorods as carriers. 展开更多

The feasibility of photocatalytic degradation of organochlorine compounds using TiO 2 supported on fiberglass cloth as a photocatalyst was studied. The results showed that 2 0×10 -4 mol/dm 3 of dichloroethylene, trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene can be completely photocatalytically degraded within a short time under illumination with a 375W medium pressure mercury lamp. The effects of parameters such as illumination time, initial concentration of organochlorine compounds, amount of air flow and concentration of H 2O 2 on the photocatalytic degradation were investigated. The TiO 2 supported on the fiberglass was not easily detached and after 500h illumination there was no significant loss of photocatalytic activity of TiO 2. The passible mechanisms of photocatalytic degradation were discussed. 展开更多

The preferential oxidation of CO(CO-PROX)reaction is a cost-effective method for eliminating trace amounts of CO from the fuel H2.Pt-based catalysts have been extensively studied for COPROX,with their activity influenced by the morphology of the support.Hydrothermal synthesis was employed to produce different morphologies ofγ-Al_(2)O_(3):flower-likeγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(f)exposing(110)crystal faces,sheet-likeγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(s)revealing(100)crystal faces,and rod-likeγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(r)displaying(111)crystal faces,followed by loading PtCo nanoparticles.The exposed crystal faces of the support impact the alloying degree of the PtCo nanoparticles,and an increase in the alloying degree correlates with enhanced catalyst reactivity.Pt_(3)Co intermetallic compounds were identified onγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(f)exposing(110)crystal faces,and PtCo/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)(f)showed high catalytic activity in the CO-PROX reaction,achieving 100%CO conversion across a broad temperature range of 50−225°C.In contrast,only partial alloying of PtCo was observed onγ-Al_(2)O_(3)(s).Furthermore,no alloying between Pt and Co occurred in PtCo/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)(r),resulting in a reaction rate at 50°C that was merely 11%of that of PtCo/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)(f).The formation of Pt3Co intermetallic compounds led to a more oxidized state of Pt,which significantly diminished the adsorption of CO on Pt and augmented the active oxygen species,thereby facilitating the selective oxidation of CO. 展开更多

Identification of Commercial Forest Tree Species Using Sentinel 2 and Planet Scope Imageries in the Usutu Forest, Eswatini

Making the distinction between different plantation tree species is crucial for creating reliable and trustworthy information, which is critical in forestry administration and upkeep. Over the years, forest delineation and mapping have been done using the conventional techniques, such as the utilization of ground truth facts together with orthophotos. These techniques have been proven to be very precise, but they are expensive, cumbersome, and challenging to employ in remote regions. To resolve this shortfall, this research investigates the potential of data from the commercial, PlanetScope CubeSat and the freely available, Sentinel 2 data from Copernicus to discriminate commercial forest tree species in the Usutu Forest, Eswatini. Two approaches for image classification, Random Forest (RF) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) were investigated at different levels of the forest database classification which is the genus (family of tree species) and species levels. The result of the study indicates that, the Sentinel 2 images had the highest species classification accuracy compared to the PlanetScope image. Both classification methods achieved a 94% maximum OA and 0.90 kappa value at the genus level with the Sentinel 2 imagery. At the species level, the Sentinel 2 imagery again showed highly acceptable results with the SVM method, with an OA of 82%. The PlanetScope images performed badly with less than 64% OA for both RF and SVM at the genus level and poorer at the species level with a low OA figure, 47% and 53% for the SVM and RF respectively. Our results suggest that the freely available Sentinel 2 data together with the SVM method has a high potential for identifying differences between commercial tree species than the PlanetScope. The study uncovered that both classification methods are highly capable of classifying species under the gum genus group (esmi, egxu, and egxn) using both imageries. However, it was difficult to separate species types under the pine genus group, particularly discriminating the hybrid species such as pech and pell since pech is a hybrid species for pell. 展开更多

The degradation performance of pervious concrete containing TiO_(2)/LDHs-loaded recycled aggregates for NO gas was analyzed using a gas phase catalytic degradation test device,simulating different environmental conditions such as load,ambient temperature,and illumination intensity,which provides theoretical support for practical engineering.The experimental results indicate that when the ambient temperature is controlled at 25℃and the illumination intensity is 30 W/m^(2),the sample prepared by soaking recycled aggregates in a 0.8%TiO_(2)/LDHs suspension exhibits the highest photocatalytic degradation rate for NO gas,reaching 72.54%.Further investigation on the influence of environmental temperature reveals that,at 25℃,the maximum photocatalytic degradation rate for NO gas is 72.9%.Moreover,at an illumination intensity of 40 W/m^(2),the maximum photocatalytic degradation rate for NO gas is 87.08%.Additionally,after three repeated photocatalytic tests,the sample demonstrates good stability,with a photocatalytic degradation rate of 58%.The nitrogen content in the eluent obtained from soaking the sample was determined to be 0.0022 mol/L,with a recovery rate of 80%.The adsorption experiment demonstrates that the sample exhibits a favorable adsorption effect on nitrate ions,reaching a maximum of 56.8%. 展开更多

Both Ti foil and porous Ti were anodized in 0.5%HF and in ethylene glycol electrolyte containing 0.5%NH4F(mass fraction) separately. The results show that TiO2 nanotubes can be formed on Ti foil by both processes, whereas TiO2 nanotubes can be formed on porous Ti only in the second process. The overhigh current density led to the failure of the formation nanotubes on porous Ti in 0.5%HF electrolyte. TiO2 nanotubes were characterized by SEM and XRD. TiO2 nanotubes on porous Ti were thinner than those on Ti foil. Anatase was formed when TiO2 nanotubes were annealed at 400 °C and fully turned into rutile at 700 °C. To obtain good photodegradation, the optimal heat treatment temperature of TiO2 nanotubes was 450 °C. The porosity of the substrates influenced photodegradation properties. TiO2 nanotubes on porous Ti with 60% porosity had the best photodegradation. 展开更多

The effects of welding current on the macro-morphology, microstructure and mechanical properties of tungsten inert gas(TIG) welded AZ31 magnesium alloy joints with TiO2 coating were investigated. The results showed that the increase of welding current led to the increase in the depth/width ratio and deteriorated the surface appearance of the welded seams with TiO2 coating. The grain size of α-Mg and the amount of granular β-Mg17Al12 particles in the welded seams also increased. The welded joints with TiO2 coating exhibited a deeper weld penetration and larger grain size compared with the welded joint without TiO2 coating. When the welding current was less than 130 A, the ultimate tensile strength of the welded joints with TiO2 coating increased with the increase in welding current and then decreased when the welding current was greater than 130 A. The average microhardness of the heat-affected zone and fusion zone decreased gradually with the increase of welding current. 展开更多

TiO_2 sols modified by rare earth (RE) ions (Ce^(4+), Eu^(3+), or Nd^(3+))were prepared by coprecipitation-peptization method. The photocatalysis activity was studied byinvestigating the photodegradation effects of active brilliant red dye X-3B. It is found that TiO_2sols modified by Ce^(4+), Eu^(3+), or Nd^(3+) have the anatase crystalline structure, which areprepared at 70℃. All RE^(n+)-TiO_2 sol samples have uniform nanoparticles with similar morphology,which are homogenously distributed in aqueous colloidal systems. The particle sizes are 10, 8, and12 nm for Nd^(3+)-TiO_2, Eu^(3+)-TiO_2, and Ce^(4+)-TiO_2, respectively. The character of ultrafineand positive charge sol particles contributes to the good adsorption of X-3B dye molecule on thesurface of titania (about 30% X-3B adsorption amount). Experimental results exhibit thatRE^(n+)-TiO_2 sol photocatalysts have the capability to photodegrade X-3B under visible lightirradiation. Nd^(3+)-TiO_2 and Eu^(3+)-TiO_2 show higher photocatalytic activity than Ce^(4+)-TiO_2,which is due to the difference of standard redox potential of RE^(n+)/RE^((n-1)+). RE^(n+)-TiO_2sols demonstrate more excellent interfacial adsorption and photodegradation effects to X-3B thanP_(25) TiO_2 crystallites. Moreover, the degradation mechanism of X-3B is proposed as dyephotosensitization and electron scavenging by rare earth ions. 展开更多

Anatase TiO_(2)nanospindles containing 89%exposed{101}facets(TIO_(2)-101)and nanosheets with 77%exposed{001}facets(TiO_(2)-001)were hydrothermally synthesized and used as supports for Pd catalysts.The effects of the TiO_(2)materials on the catalytic performance of Pd/TiO_(2)-101 and Pd/TiO_(2)-001 catalysts were investigated in the selective hydrogenation of acetylene to polymer-grade ethylene.The PdfTiO_(2)-101 catalyst exhibited enhanced performance in terms of acetylene conversion and ethylene yield.To understand these effects,the catalysts were characterized by H_(2)temperature-programmed desorption(H_(2)-TPD),H_(2)temperature-programmed reduction(H=-TPR),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),pulse CO chemisorption,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The TEM and CO chemisorption results confirmed that Pd nanoparticles(NPs)on the TiO_(2)-101 support had a smaller average particle size(1.53 nm)and a higher dispersion(15.95%)than those on the TiO_(2)-001 support(average particle size of 4.36 nm and dispersion of 9.06%).The smaller particle size and higher dispersion of Pd on the Pd/TiO_(2)-101 catalyst provided more reaction active sites,which contributed to the improved catalytic activity of this supported catalyst. 展开更多

It could absorb light under 550 nm wave... A visible-light photocatalyst was prepared by calcination of the hydrolysis product of Ti(SO_4)_2 with ammonia as precipitator. The color of this photocatalyst was vivid yellow. It could absorb light under 550 nm wavelength. The crystal structure of anatase was characterized by XRD. The structure analysis result of X-ray fluorescence(XRF) shows that doped-nitrogen was presented in the sample. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated using methyl orange and phenol as model pollutants. The photocatalytic activities of samples were increasing gradually with calcination temperature from 400℃ to 700℃ under UV irradiation. It can be seen that the degradation of methyl orange follows zero-order kinetics. However, the calcination temperatures have no significant influence on the degradation of phenol under sunlight. The N-doped catalyst shows higher activity than the bare one under solar irradiation. 展开更多

The catalytic activities of TiSiW_(12)O_(40)/TiO_2 in synthesizing ethylester; propyl ester, n-butyl ester; and amyl ester were reported. It was demonstrated thatTiSiW_(12)O_(40)/TiO_2 is an excellent catalyst. Various factors concerned with esterification wereinvestigated. The optimum conditions were found: the mole ratio of alcohol to acid is 1.3:1, themass ratio of catalyst to reactants is 1.5 percent, and the reaction time is 1.0 h. Under theoptimum conditions, the yields are 88.0 percent for ethyl ester, 94.5 percent for propyl ester, 98.6percent for n-butyl ester, 99.1 percent for n-amyl ester, and 96.7 percent for iso-amyl ester,respectively. 展开更多

The conversion of CO_(2) to methanol with high activity and high selectivity remains challenging owing to the kinetic and thermodynamic limitations associated with the low chemical reactivity exhibited by CO_(2).Herein,we report a novel Cd/TiO_(2) catalyst exhibiting a methanol selectivity of 81%,a CO_(2) conversion of 15.8%,and a CH_(4) selectivity below 0.7%.A combination of experimental and computational studies revealed that the unique electronic properties exhibited by the Cd clusters supported by the TiO_(2) matrix were responsible for the high selectivity of CO_(2) hydrogenation to methanol via the HCOO*pathway at the interfacial catalytic sites. 展开更多

The results show that the electron transport and the oxygen-evolving rate of PSⅡ are accelerated after it has been treated with nano-anatase TiO_2; the UV-Vis absorption spectrum of PSⅡ particles is increased; the red shift of fluorescence emission peak of PSⅡ is 2 nm; the peak intensity is decreased; the PSⅡ signal Ⅱs of low temperature electron paramagnetic resonanace(EPR) spectrum is intensified under light, and the PSⅡ circular dichroism(CD) spectrum is similar to that of control. It is suggested that nano-anatase TiO_2 might bind to the PSⅡ reaction center complex and intensify the function of the PSⅡ electron donor, however, nano-anatase TiO_2 treatment does not change the configuration of the PSⅡ reaction center complex. 展开更多

By this method, the crystal form and grain size of theimmobilized TiO_2 were well maintained. Compared with TiO_2 powder, the photocatalytic activity ofTiO_2/PS thin films was not significantly reduced. The catalyst is stable and can be reused severaltimes without the loss of activity, which makes wastewater treatment using this photocatalyticdegradation technique of this way possible in the practical application. 展开更多
