Augmented reality(AR)is an emerging dynamic technology that effectively supports education across different levels.The increased use of mobile devices has an even greater impact.As the demand for AR applications in ed...Augmented reality(AR)is an emerging dynamic technology that effectively supports education across different levels.The increased use of mobile devices has an even greater impact.As the demand for AR applications in education continues to increase,educators actively seek innovative and immersive methods to engage students in learning.However,exploring these possibilities also entails identifying and overcoming existing barriers to optimal educational integration.Concurrently,this surge in demand has prompted the identification of specific barriers,one of which is three-dimensional(3D)modeling.Creating 3D objects for augmented reality education applications can be challenging and time-consuming for the educators.To address this,we have developed a pipeline that creates realistic 3D objects from the two-dimensional(2D)photograph.Applications for augmented and virtual reality can then utilize these created 3D objects.We evaluated the proposed pipeline based on the usability of the 3D object and performance metrics.Quantitatively,with 117 respondents,the co-creation team was surveyed with openended questions to evaluate the precision of the 3D object created by the proposed photogrammetry pipeline.We analyzed the survey data using descriptive-analytical methods and found that the proposed pipeline produces 3D models that are positively accurate when compared to real-world objects,with an average mean score above 8.This study adds new knowledge in creating 3D objects for augmented reality applications by using the photogrammetry technique;finally,it discusses potential problems and future research directions for 3D objects in the education sector.展开更多
The benefits of regular physical activity are well known.Yet,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary setting.To investigate the incorporat...The benefits of regular physical activity are well known.Yet,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary setting.To investigate the incorporation of PA into medical curriculum,we developed a series of optional exercise-based review sessions designed to reinforce musculoskeletal(MSK)anatomy course material.These synchronous sessions were co-taught by a group fitness instructor and an anatomy instructor.The fitness instructor would lead students through both strength and yoga style exercises,while the anatomy instructor asked questions about relevant anatomical structures related to course material previously covered.After the sessions,participants were asked to evaluate the classes on their self-reported exam preparedness in improving MSK anatomy knowledge,PA levels,and mental wellbeing.Thirty participants completed surveys;a majority agreed that the classes increased understanding of MSK concepts(90.0%)and activity levels(97.7%).Many(70.0%)felt that the classes helped reduce stress.The majority of respondents(90.0%)agreed that the classes contributed to increased feelings of social connectedness.Overall,medical students saw benefit in PA based interventions to supplement MSK course concepts.Along with increasing activity levels and promoting health behaviours,integrating PA into medical curriculum may improve comprehension of learning material,alleviate stress and foster social connectivity among medical students.展开更多

Methods: The...Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate health education using videos and leaflets for preconception care (PCC) awareness among adolescent females up to six months after the health education. Methods: The subjects were female university students living in the Kinki area. A longitudinal survey was conducted on 67 members in the intervention group, who received the health education, and 52 members in the control group, who did not receive the health education. The primary outcome measures were knowledge of PCC and the subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile. Surveys were conducted before, after, and six months after the intervention in the intervention group, and an initial survey and survey six months later were conducted in the control group. Cochran’s Q test, Bonferroni’s multiple comparison test, and McNemar’s test were used to analyze the knowledge of PCC data. The Health Awareness, Nutrition, and Stress Management subscales of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile were analyzed by paired t-test, and comparisons between the intervention and control groups were performed using the two-way repeated measures analysis of variance. Results: In the intervention group of 67 people, the number of subjects who answered “correct” for five of the nine items concerning knowledge of PCC increased immediately after the health education (P = 0.006) but decreased for five items from immediately after the health education to six months later (P = 0.043). In addition, the number of respondents who answered “correct” for “low birth weight infants and future lifestyle-related diseases” (P = 0.016) increased after six months compared with before the health education. For the 52 subjects in the control group, there was no change in the number of subjects who answered “correct” for eight out of the nine items after six months. There was also no increase in scores for the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile after six months for either the intervention or control group. These gaps required innovative probl...The pandemic highlighted significant gaps in the public health infrastructure impacted by shortages of public health workers, an undertrained workforce, and years of disinvestment. These gaps required innovative problem-solving by public health agencies (PHAs), including local health departments (LHDs), to respond to rapidly changing community conditions during and after the pandemic. Many schools and programs of public health (SPPH) worked with PHAs to mobilize public health (PH) students through practice-based teaching (PBT). Current research indicates PBT benefits all stakeholders—PHAs, students, faculty, SPPH, and ultimately the community served. However, more research is needed on the utility of PBT in addressing a community’s systemic public health issues, the extent to which the academic-community collaboration enhances a PHA’s capacity, and the impact of the pedagogy on preparing the workforce for an evolving PH landscape. This paper examines the process of a semester-long PBT course, guided by the PBT STEPS framework, which includes five steps from collaboration to implementation to evaluation of a PBT course. The collaborating PHA and its student group addressed community trauma and resilience issues during the semester. Additionally, it examines the longer-term impacts after the semester for the PHA, community, and the workforce by 1) conducting a formative evaluation to understand needs and gaps in the community;2) redesigning an intervention that merged the results of the formative evaluation with the intervention developed during the semester;and 3) securing funding and resources for intervention sustainability. Through the documentation of a post-course partnership between an LHD and faculty at a large school of public health, this case study illustrates the potential for PBT to lay the foundation for ongoing research that supports more impactful interventions for PHAs while bolstering the workforce abilities of students as future practitioners.展开更多

However, more research is needed on the utility of PBT in addressing a community’s systemic public health issues, the extent to which the academic-community collaboration enhances a PHA’s capacity, and the impact of the pedagogy on preparing the workforce for an evolving PH landscape. This paper examines the process of a semester-long PBT course, guided by the PBT STEPS framework, which includes five steps from collaboration to implementation to evaluation of a PBT course. The collaborating PHA and its student group addressed community trauma and resilience issues during the semester. Additionally, it examines the longer-term impacts after the semester for the PHA, community, and the workforce by 1) conducting a formative evaluation to understand needs and gaps in the community;2) redesigning an intervention that merged the results of the formative evaluation with the intervention developed during the semester;and 3) securing funding and resources for intervention sustainability. Through the documentation of a post-course partnership between an LHD and faculty at a large school of public health, this case study illustrates the potential for PBT to lay the foundation for ongoing research that supports more impactful interventions for PHAs while bolstering the workforce abilities of students as future practitioners.
文摘Cross-cultural education plays a pivotal role in fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange between China and Thailand.It not only nurtures talent to drive the economic and social development of both nations but also deepens their friendship and cooperation.Since 2023,the Center for Language Education and Cooperation(CLEC)under China’s Ministry of Education has partnered with the Chinese Department of the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Rangsit University(RSU)in Thailand to promote the innovative educational concept of“Chinese Plus.”This partnership resulted in the launch of the Chinese Plus Music program,with its first literacy camp officially held on November 25,2024.Rooted in the principles of mutual cultural learning and integrated arts education,the camp blends Chinese language learning with practical music training.It employs a multidimensional,highly interactive training model designed to equip Thai middle school teachers with fresh approaches to Chinese language education.

文摘Online education has become a critical mode of instruction in Chinese universities,particularly during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.This study examines information management in online education through a triadic framework encompassing classroom information management,teaching effectiveness management,and teaching information management.Drawing on in-depth interviews with administrators,teachers,and students,the findings reveal three primary challenges in online education:the absence of embodied information,the uncontrollable nature of online platforms,and nonverbal overload caused by Zoom fatigue.Teachers face difficulties maintaining presence and interaction due to limited feedback from students and risks associated with class recordings.Students experience increased psychological and physical fatigue due to the overlap of learning and living spaces.Recommendations to address these issues include enhancing teacher-student interaction to foster a sense of presence,improving the transparency of course information to align expectations,and adopting user-friendly teaching platforms with privacy safeguards.These insights aim to improve the security,effectiveness,and experience of online education in higher education institutions.

文摘In the context of the digital transformation of vocational education,a quality evaluation index system has been constructed.Based on a questionnaire survey conducted among higher vocational colleges and enterprises in Hainan Province,it has been found that the quality of vocational education generally depends on the talent training program and professional construction at the macro level.At the meso level,the teacher level and teaching environment are critical,while at the micro level,the evaluation of talent training quality cannot be underestimated.Strategies for quality improvement in vocational education are proposed from the perspectives of talent training programs,major construction,teacher development,teaching environment,and talent training quality,all under the lens of digital transformation.
文摘This paper employs the SWOT-QSPM(Strength,Weakness,Opportunity,Threat-Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix)analytical framework to conduct a strategic study on the preschool teacher education program,taking the preschool teacher major of Zengcheng Vocational and Technical School in Guangzhou City as an example.Through in-depth interviews and qualitative and quantitative analysis methods,the current external opportunities and threats,internal strengths,and weaknesses faced by the major are assessed.Alternative strategies are proposed,and then the QSPM method is used to quantitatively evaluate these alternative strategies.It is concluded that a differentiation strategy should be adopted as the competitive strategy for the preschool teacher education program.The research findings have significant reference value for the development and planning of similar preschool teacher majors in higher vocational colleges.The practical significance lies in the fact that the research conclusions can be directly applied by education providers.The innovative significance lies in providing career planning references for current preschool teacher major students and their parents through strategic analysis.
