A T-type RF ( radio frequency) CMOS ( complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor ) attenuator is designed as an on-off keying(OOK) modulator in a time-hopping ultra wide-band (TH-UWB)communication with a carrier frequency of 4 GHz. In the topology of the OOK modulator circuit, there are three parts, an oscillator with an oscillating frequency of 4 GHz, a T-type attenuator constructed by RF CMOS transistors, and an output impedance matching network with a L-type LC structure. The modulator is controlled by a time-hopping pulse position modulation(TH-PPM) signal. The envelope of the modulated signal varies with the amplitude of the controlling signal. Meanwhile, an output matching network is also designed to match a 50 Ω load. In 0. 18 μm RF CMOS technology, a modulator is designed and simulated. The implemented modulator chip has 65 mV of the output amplitude at a 50 fl load from a 1.8 V supply, and the return loss ( S11 ) at the output port is less than - 10 dB. The chip size is 0. 7 mm × 0. 8 mm, and the power consumption is 12. 3 mW.展开更多

The proposed scheme is based on single side band carrier suppressed(SSBCS) signal, both at network and receiver sides, used for the first time at optical line terminal(OLT) and optical network unit(ONU) sides. We use dual-drive Mach-zehnder modulator(DD-MZM) for generating SSB-CS signals, which decreases the expense per bit in full transmission. SSB-CS mitigates CRB, both at OLT and ONU sides, because of having no chance of reflections from the carrier. Since no extra dedicated RF or laser source is used at ONU side, we thus achieve cost effective colorless WDM-PON system. Suppressed signals from four channels, each of 10 Gbps, are multiplexed before injecting into the fiber span of 25 km at OLT. At ONU side, half of the downlink power is used for re-modulating the data signal. The simulation results show an errorfree transmission. Moreover, the detailed power budget calculations show that the proposed scheme can be sought out for splitting ratio up to 128. Hence it offers enough system's margin for unseen losses.展开更多

Integrated with a low-power complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) OOK demodulator, the LTCC receiver module demonstrates Full-HD uncompressed video streaming at a distance of 1 m. A low-power and high-efficiency fully integrated OOK transceiver is also developed to be integrated in a handheld device. The transceiver consumes 67 mW at 10.7 Gb/ s and occupies an active footprint of 0.44 mm^2. With an on-board Yagi-Uda antenna, the transceiver achieves 10.7 Gb/s of data transmission, resulting in a high energy efficiency of 6.26 pJ/bit. The antenna-in-package module with the transceiver demon- strates mobile-to-display 1080p Full-HD video transmission over a distance of 60 cm.展开更多
